Fun with Fabric

Fabric-flower One of the latest offerings from Stampin' Up! is patterned fabric. For sewers and quilters, many possibilities for these products spring to mind, I'm sure.  For non-sewers (of which, sadly, I seem to have become one, as my sewing machine gathers dust in the corner…), you may wonder what you could use the fabric for. This fun floral accent was created using the Fun Flowers Bigz Die with the Big Shot and the Springtime Vintage Designer Fabric.  The flowers were die cut, then spray starched & ironed, but while warm, were scrunched a bit.  The flowers then get stacked together as desired, and stitched or glued together, with a Vintage Floral Adornment glued to the centre as a finishing touch.  These could be used for papercrafting, home decor or fashion accents.  Non-sewers and sewers alike can enjoy the possibilities with Stampin' Up!'s designer fabrics!  (Who knows, maybe the non-sewers amongst us will be inspired to pull out that needle and thread?!)

Sale-a-brating a Birthday?!

Sab-card This is a fun birthday card created using some of the free product you can receive during Sale-a-Bration!

The image is from the set Bring on the Cake – in Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Mini Catalogue. Inked in Pacific Point, I removed the ink from the flames of the candles and re-inked with a Stampin' Write marker before stamping onto the cardstock.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Ice Cream Parlour Designer Series Paper and Quick Accents Pack, and the ribbon is from the Ice Cream Parlour Ribbon & Button Pack.  Either of these bundles can be chosen with each $60 in merchandise order. The Scallop Trim Border Punch echoes the scallop on the cake plate in the image.

You still have time to Sale-a-Brate…you can place an online order HERE (click on SHOP NOW) or contact me directly to place your order or book a workshop!

Petal Cone Die

Your next party is sure to be a hit when you give favors and gifts in this fun vintage looking petal cone! This is a brand new product from our Occasions Mini catalogue which was just released last month.

You can use the banner element to attach a label or greeting to the petal cone and scalloped half circle to add huge decorative appeal to the flaps on top. You can also use these elements to create custom embellishments for any other cards or projects as well.

■ Die measures 6″ x 8-3/4″
■ Use with standard cutting pads and standard premium crease pads

A reminder that my BIG SHOT class is happening on Wednesday, March 2nd at 7pm here in Burlington.  If you’re interested in attending, please contact me to register!

You can visit my Stampin’ Up! store here and see more new Occasions Mini products as well as place your order.

Medallion Card

Medallion-card

I love Stampin' Up!'s single Medallion stamp – it's such a great graphic, and suitable for all sorts of occasions! On this card, the image is heat embossed in gold on Elegant Eggplant, and backed onto River Rock.  I got that colour combination from Stampin' Up!'s Colour Coach, and I admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but in the end, I really quite like those two colours together!  I also like that if my embossing isn't "perfect" on this image, it gives a cool worn / vintage effect.

This card will be / is featured in a number of my workshops these days because it's another of those high impact, low workload kind of cards – you know, looks impressive but actually isn't that hard to (re)create!  Just my kind of crafting!!

If you're keen to host a workshop in the next while, I do have a _few_ openings for March – you can still get in on the Sale-a-Bration!  Contact me if you're interested!

Sweet Treats – Take Three

Sweet-treat-card Happy Valentine's Day! Today's Sweet Treat uses a Sweet Treat cup!  I found these great candy hearts, so featured them in the see through Treat Cup.  I used the heart image from the Sweet Centers set, and punched out the centre of the heart with the 1-3/4" circle punch so I could insert the filled Sweet Treat Cup.

I hope these Sweet Treats have helped you ramp up your presentation!  These easy to come by treats are made so much more impressive when you put just a bit of time & effort into the packaging – and the recipient will definitely notice!!!

Last call for registrations for the Birthday Class this Wednesday – remember, as always, if you are unable to attend a scheduled class, consider getting a group of friends together, and I'll come to you!!

Sweet Treats – Take Two

Choc-bar-wrapper Today's take on a sweet treat for Valentine's Day is a chocolate bar wrapper and tag.  I used the Sweet & Sour Specialty Designer Series Paper to wrap around the chocolate bar and in the Big Shot with the Fun Flowers Bigz die for the flower & centre.

The tag uses an image and sentiment from the set Eat Chocolate and I added the "Happy Valentine's Day" sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set.

Please give me your feedback – I've linked the items to my online store so that you can see the images of the sets/dies – is this something you'd like to see in future posts???  Please either leave a comment below (please note that I've had to moderate comments so it won't appear right away), or send me a quick email.  Thanks in advance for your input!!

Sweet Treats – Take One

Cookie-package Over the next few days, I'll be sharing some quick and easy sweet treats to share with your Valentine!

It's all about presentation – these "homemade" cookies (the kind you pick up and put onto a sheet & bake – you don't even have to slice them anymore!!!) are dressed up even more with this bag topper.  I took one of the medium sized cello bags, and topped with Real Red cardstock.  I added images from I {Heart} Hearts set onto Whisper White cardstock, used the Scallop Trim Border punch along the edge and added some Clear Rhinestone Brads for effect and used sticky strip to seal the bag shut and secure the topper.  That's it!  Easy peasy and a wonderful way to present your efforts.

On a side note, a sweet class is coming soon – the birthday themed class is THIS Wednesday, so if you're interested, please visit my classes and events page and click to register.  Contact me if you have any questions, or wish to pay by cash/cheque.

New! My Digital Studio Catalogue!

Stampin' Up! has heard my anguish LOL…. Click HERE to access the My Digital Studio pdf catalogue (you'll need Adobe Reader) – a visual directory of all the available My Digital Studio images and downloads!  An easy way to see all that's available for your digital crafting in one spot *phew*

I used My Digital Studio software to create the image for my travel cup liner that I showed on CH Morning Live the other morning – pictured below – also see the video from a couple of days ago if you missed it!  (My grandmother marvels that I somehow manage to get a picture of my son on the air despite having only a few minutes each time! LOL).

Travel-mug

The mug features the Spring Shades Designer Series Paper download, and Basic Pearls & Rhinestones.  I used the full heart digital punch to create the pale heart accents.  The gratitude sentiment is from the Design Your Life digitial brush set.  This took me very little time to design (including the download of the rhinestones!).  So easy, you could change it out for each week if you really wanted!!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about digital crafting with My Digital Studio.
