Custom Thank You Card

One of the best ways to show your appreciation – custom thank you cards!

One of the things that I love about making my own cards is that I can customize them! I recently made a custom thank you card for some Burlington Teen Tour Band members.

BTTB uniforms

I volunteer as a photographer for our city’s marching band – the Burlington Teen Tour Band, and recently wanted to give a custom thank you card – so this is the card I made! Quick and easy (you know, the projects that I prefer) but I added details particular to the band. I chose the colours based on the band uniforms and added a vertical stripe because their navy pants have a red stripe down the outside of the leg. Added the sentiment and had an extra embossed heart on my craft table so added that as well!

I chose to use Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler as my colours. The sentiment is from Artistically Inked (one of my favourite ones to use for a thank you card), and it’s on a Stylish Shape die cut pennant piece. The heart was created with the Adoring Hearts Hybrid Embossing Folder – so I could emboss AND die cut the heart at the same time. Bonus – if you’re making cards in bulk, you can emboss and die cut 9 hearts at the same time!

Making a custom card thank you card doesn’t have to be difficult! Choose appropriate colours for the person receiving it – do they have a favourite colour? Or if you’re making a card for a person who has affiliations with a team or organization – pick those colours, or a detail from their uniforms – like this card, with the stripe like the band pants!

I send out a weekly email newsletter with paper crafting ideas and information – so if you’d like to get project tutorials and notifications of upcoming sales and specials, please sign up for the YamStamps Newsletter! How Will YOU Sale-a-Brate 2024?

How will you Sale-a-Brate in 2024?!

We are already over halfway through January! How will you Sale-a-Brate 2024? For every $60CAD product order, you can select a Level 1 Sale-a-Bration item for free – at $120CAD, you could select either two Level 1 items, or one Level 2 item for free……and so on, and so on, and so on…. As long as the amount is at least $60CAD in a single order (before shipping/taxes. after any discounts), you’ll qualify to get something for free!

Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper is a Level 1 Sale-a-Bration item and I used it on this card.

I also used the Level 2 Sale-a-Bration Softly Sophisticated bundle – the sentiment is from the stamp set, and I used the embossing folder on the blue DSP. I like the “debossed” effect of this one – it almost looks like stitching! I did this card for the Demonstrator Only Sale-a-Bration swap, and some of the panels I debossed and others were embossed (bumpy side showing). FYI – it’s a little easier to adhere when the bumpy side is showing! Either way, I still like the effect. I used the Double Oval Punch to make the sentiment stand out.

How will you Sale-a-Brate 2024? So far, the Designer Series Paper choices have been the favourites for Sale-a-Bration – both with my customers and with the general Stampin’ Up! customer base! That being said, if you have your eye on one of the DSP choices for your Sale-a-Bration freebie, you will want to make sure you get your $60CAD product order in sooner rather than later. Sale-a-Bration items are available while supplies last / 29 February (one extra day to Sale-a-Brate this year!) – whichever comes first.

If you want to see some of the swap cards I received, be sure to check out the Sunday Swaps Page here on the YamStamps blog – I also highlight a card each Sunday on the YamStamps Facebook Page.

Demonstrator Only Swaps are one of the many fun activities that you can participate in if you’re a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator – and it’s more fun to join during Sale-a-Bration! How will you Sale-a-Brate 2024?! You could purchase a Demonstrator starter kit and get the exclusive Stampin’ Glass Mat Studio, currently available only to new Demonstrators in the starter kit! You have to make a choice, though – the Glass Mat Studio OR you could select $41CAD more product in your starter kit. More information on joining my group of Stampin’ Up! Canada Demonstrators known as the “Eh” Team!

Goodbye 2023, Hello 2024!

On “123123” day, we say goodbye 2023, hello 2024!

Depending on how you write the date, today is “123123” day! Of course, if you write the day first, then it’s 311223, so not quite as poetic…..so for today, let’s all do month first! (Not my usual way, if you can tell LOL).

It’s natural to reflect back on the year and look forward to the next, especially today. Looking back at the YamStamps 2023 year, there’s a lot of things for which I am thankful!

In terms of the YamStamps site/blog, one of the most viewed posts from this year was this one featuring the Ginko Branch Stamp set.

gingko leaves card

but honestly – one of the most viewed posts on the YamStamps site continues to be this one!!

yamstamps inked embossing folder technique card

So for 2024, I’m looking forward to continuing to bring you new ideas and fun samples here on the YamStamps site to help inspire YOUR creativity – with the ongoing angle of techniques and designs that are impressive but not overly difficult to recreate! The YamStamps Sketch System Subscription program is ongoing, aimed to help subscribers create cards quickly and easily, and YamStamps More online classes for more in depth teaching of techniques and designs (though, again, focusing on the impressive but not overly difficult to recreate!).

THANK YOU for stopping by and continuing to support me! Other no-cost ways of supporting me and my small business – subscribing to my email list, liking/following YamStamps on social media, and leaving a comment on blog or social media posts!

thank you card

Leaving you with this “thank you” card that features the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper which is being CARRIED OVER from the Sept-Dec Mini Catalogue – so it will be available to order (as supply allows) even after that catalogue is finished on 3 January 2024! It’s got some beautiful designs and colours, so I’m happy to be able to replenish my supply for a little longer!

Thank you for stopping by the YamStamps blog! Wishing you a happy, healthy and creatively inspired 2024!!

Merry Christmas 2023!

Thank you for stopping by the YamStamps site. I hope that you are able to spend time today in a way that is meaningful and important to you.

fancy fold Christmas card

It’s been one of those years where I feel like I’ve been playing catch up or keep up the whole time. The statutory holidays give me a few days off in a row, and I’m looking forward to spending time resting and recharging, as well as catching up with family. I may, of course, throw a little crafting in there as well!

I hope that you have a wonderful day. Merry Christmas!

Not a Creature Was Stirring….

Except for scheduled posts on the YamStamps site!

Happy Christmas Eve! I always enjoy a bit of quiet time before Christmas Day, just looking at the tree….usually because I’m sitting on the ground after finishing up my wrapping!! In any case, I’ve set up a post in the schedule so I can take some time off, and I’m hoping everything works correctly….

I’m giving you early access to my Boxing Day Special! From now until 27 December 2023, you can get a “Fantastic” Exclusive Bundle at 50% off regular price! I’ve created the special bundle of the Fantastic Florals Online Class and the Fantastic Fancy Folds Class – EACH is regularly $30CAD but for Boxing Day, you’ll get them BOTH for $30CAD! Of course, like my other classes, it’s lifetime access (or reasonable facsimile….in any case, more than enough time to go through the classes more than a few times!).

CLICK HERE to check out the bundle and grab the classes at special savings! (And then go back to admiring your Christmas tree, like me). This deal expires 27 December!!

Handcrafted Elements Card

Grab this retiring Die set so you can create your own Handcrafted Elements Card!

I was late to find the Handcrafted Elements Dies in the September – December Mini Catalogue, and they’ll be retiring on 3 January 2024 – so don’t miss out! They’re discounted as part of the Last Chance Sale too!

Here’s one of my Handcrafted Elements Cards

handcrafted elements card

I love that the dies work with each other to create a more complex image (without ME having to do all the work!). To make this handcrafted elements card even easier, I added some Adhesive Sheet to the back of the Gold Foil sheet before die cutting. The top die is a lot more detailed and has thinner pieces, so with me and my usually messy adhesive application, it was sure to end up everywhere – so the adhesive sheet is a perfect way to adhere it quickly and neatly! I did end up using Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the Mossy Meadow die cut to the cardfront, though, focusing the dots of glue on the wider parts of the die cut.

To keep the colour scheme simple, I added the sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed in gold. Texture from the crosshatch design of the Basics 3D Embossing Folders (my current “go to” for easy backgrounds) makes the Very Vanilla backdrop a little more interesting.

The Handcrafted Elements Dies also have a floral themed tag, an ornament and a star – so it’s a great multipurpose set to have on hand – and it’s 10% off while supplies last / until 3 January 2024. Add these dies to your crafting stash so you can make your own handcrafted elements cards for all occasions!

I also -just- received my shipment of January-April Mini Catalogue and Sale-a-Bration Catalogues, so I’ll be working on getting those out to my customers ASAP. If you made a purchase with me in the last six months, I’ll be automatically sending one to you. If you aren’t sure if you’ll automatically get one from me, or would like a copy of the catalogues, please complete this form (if you have shopped with me before or don’t already have a Stampin’ Up! Canada Demonstrator) and I’ll be in touch!

Give a Creative Gift!!

No need to panic (yet)…there’s still time to grab a gift for the crafter in your life!

(and it still counts if the crafter is you, by the way!!)

Did you know that I offer gift certificates? I can customize the gift certificate and email it to you for easy printing/forwarding to the recipient. Give a creative gift!

Gift certificates are available in any amount, and are good for class fees (internationally) or Stampin’ Up! Canada merchandise purchased through me (must be delivered to a Canadian address). Contact me to get a gift certificate today! I accept etransfers or can do a credit card payment if you prefer.

Star Book Class!

The next online class is a Star Book Class – just in time to make some gifts for special people!

The Star Book Online Class will launch Thursday 7 December at 7 pm Eastern, and it’s been fun working on the projects so far. There’s a basic design, and then there’s variations that you can make to suit the occasion, your supplies on hand, and the person who’s going to receive the book! During the class I’ll also share my tips for easy assembly (aka “learn from my mistakes” LOL). Prelaunch sale price in effect until 7 December – save $10CAD on lifetime access!

Check out the class prototype in action!

For those that like written instructions as well as visuals, you can purchase the add-on printable PDF. Basic measurements and instructions are provided on the site in writing, but I know that some like to have something in hand when crafting, so that’s why I have the optional PDF.

Pay just $20CAD for lifetime access to the Star Book Online Class, but only if you register before 7pm Eastern on Thursday 7 December! As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
