I love clean and simple cards, even though their “WOW” factor is sometimes more subtle than over the top cards. The only thing is – there’s nowhere to hide…LOL so if you mess up somewhere along the way, it can be hard to work with it! Thankfully this card is made easier by a bunch of factors. The first – the stamp set, Stampin’ Up!’s Penned and Painted – can be a bit forgiving, because it’s “artistic”, so if the lines aren’t perfectly lined up, you can get away with it. There’s actually 8 different stamps used to produce this multilayer, multicolour image. The second – the MISTI. You may have heard of this tool. It’s not sold by Stampin’ Up!, but it’s a handy tool for stamping with clear mount or photopolymer stamps, especially if you’re mass producing. You can see the introductory video here. I got to meet Iliana, the creator of the MISTI, while I was at my friend Lydia’s retreat in Texas last month. At the end of the retreat, I won a MISTI to “Pay Forward”. SO – I have a MISTI, signed by Iliana, to share with some lucky person!!Â
HOW TO WIN:
- Be located in Canada. I know that up until recently, the MISTI wasn’t available from Canadian vendors (it is now), so I would like to help spread the MISTI love here in the north. Plus I can’t bear the thought of shipping outside Canada….
- Be subscribed to the YamStamps newsletter. You can sign up through the box at the top right on the YamStamps blog, or click here.
- (Last one) Leave a comment below, and let me know what you’d like to learn more about in the rubber stamping/paper crafting world. (please be patient, your comment will not appear right away).
I will randomly draw one name on Monday, September 5th (Labour Day) and the winner will be notified/identified in the YamStamps Email Newsletter that comes out on Tuesday, September 6th at 1pm Eastern.
This is Jaydyn (aka My Sweet Petunia!) and Iliana while we were in Texas. Jaydyn was my good luck charm 😉 I think – she helped draw names for the prizes and I won a couple!! (good thing she’s not drawing the names in this contest?! LOL).
Oh, and if you’re wondering, the card above is one of my “thank you” cards that I’m in the midst of catching up on!!! I let the threatened postal action affect my production….so now I’m behind, and I’m also realizing that even if there is job action, it apparently won’t be a full on strike, but a slow down, so I’m going full speed ahead to get them out!
Don’t forget – leave a comment below and subscribe to the newsletter – and Good Luck!
Love the clean and simple card, Linda. I have never made or even tried to make a shaker card, so that iscwhat I wiuld like to know more about. Hope all this postal strike worry clears up soon. The Misti looks very interesting. Sharon
I’d like to learn more about the MISTI – imagine how easy it would be to get caught up on all the card-making I’d like to do!!!
Oh how exciting, Linda! My favorite techniques are heat embossing & layering of stamp images. I would love to learn more about both. I especially like cards with lots of “texture” rather than actual embellishments. Have already learned tons from stamp club. Keep ‘er comin’ Girl!
You are a very lucky woman! The MISTI looks like it would definitely ease the stamping process. I bet it would make doing a number of Christmas cards more efficient. I’d like to learn how to do a One Sheet Wonder technique that Janice mentioned. I’m guessing that if the dimensions are not exact that would throw it all off…right? I thoroughly enjoy whatever you create for us!
Ooh I saw the MISTI on some of the tutorials and it looks like it works like a charm. I would love to see more watercolouring techniques as it seems to add more colour, dimension and depth to the cards. I haven’t given it a try yet. The watercolouring seems to give it a more artistic and unique feel as no two will be exactly alike.
Ooooh great opportunity! Thanks for offering this chance to win a Misti! I would love to learn fun techniques for making backgrounds.
This is a beautiful clean and simple card Linda! I’ll bet the MISTI makes it much easier to line up those 8 layers! I’ve learned so much in Stamp Club. It’s the little tricks that help me take it up a notch that I really love. Thank you!
Your clean and simple cards always inspire me to do the same, Linda. Love this one. Thanks for the chance to win a MISTI. Are team members eligible too?
Love the simplicity and clean lines of this card. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win a misti! What a wonderful present it would be. Thanks from Alberta Canada,
I love clean and simple card they are beautiful. Thank you for helping me learn how to stamp easier. I would like to win the MISTI I can learn how to do layering.
I also love clean and simple cards. And the Misti is an amazing product. I enjoy learning how to better use designer paper.
love the card. you have been showing such nice cards. would love to win the misti. It would be cool to use.
I would LOVE to win th MISTI!!! I have done many cards in the past where having the MISTI would be so useful. I have also been eyeing the layered stamps for so long and would like to know more about them. For example, how many inks are suggested to be used, do the inks need to be all in the same colour category and is there one layered stamp that would be a good staple to have.
I would like to learn more about background techniques.
I would love to learn more about the layering stamps. They are so pretty. I especially love the flamingo and teddy I have seen
I don’t live in Canada BUT I do live in Austin, TX. The above card is so beautiful in it’s simplicity. And I, too, would like to learn more about layering stamps.
I know I’m not eligible for the drawing but please tell me what a MISTI is.
Hi Nancy – click on the link in the post where I mention the introductory video – it’s by Iliana and explains the MISTI and shows it in action. It is used in place of clear blocks to stamp with photopolymer or cling/clear mount rubber stamps.
Hi Linda, Loved the card. I would like to learn more about the differences in ink ie dye vs pigment. etc. and blending tips for both.
Would like to learn about the Misti for sure and perhaps different water colouring techniques 🙂 . Thanks for the chance at this great prize!
I need to know how to blend colours well using markers and/or blender pens or aqua brushes. I’ve seen videos but when I try it I get very poor results.
Lucky you. Have been playing around with the idea of making one myself…….but. ….would love to win one!!!
Would like to know more about dimensional cards that are still easy to mail.
Love your CAS card. Would like to learn any new technique, and layering stamps and different textures. Thanks for the inspiration.
Looks great Linda.
Ruth
Linda I love your card! Very simple but classy looking. I would like to know more about what to use punch boards for. Thanks for your inspiration
Hi Linda, thanks for sharing your simple yet impressive card. I would like to learn more about watercoloured cards. I love the ” painted ” look of them especially cards with florals. I look at a lot of card tutorials online and have seen the Misti being used. I would love to win one and try out my Misti skills.
Thanks. .
The Misti looks intriguing! I would love to learn more about using it! Thanks!
