Watercolour Resist Card

Watercolour-resist-cardI love using Stampin' Up!'s watercolour crayons, I feel so artistic! (even though I'm not…). This card uses the resist technique – so the image from Fabulous Florets is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder on watercolour paper. Then I used the aquapainter to paint over the image using Elegant Eggplant and More Mustard watercolour wonder crayons, which match the cardstocks in the background (because why work harder than I have to…). I love the elegant look of the effect. The colours mean that this could be used for an Easter card, too!

I am really hoping that this is the start of spring like weather in our neck of the woods… The runners who participated in today's Around the Bay Race had wonderful weather for running for sure! (I sat out this year, but didn't realize how envious I'd be of the racers!)

I'll be posting other Easter themed projects and cards in the upcoming week, just in time for your celebrations this weekend so please come back to www.yamstamps.com to see – or better yet, download the YamStamps app for your iphone or android!!

This and That – It’s a Smash!

Demo_B1_THIS-AND-THAT_NAStampin' Up! is giving us a sneak peek at a new product line tht will be in the next annual catalogue – it's called This and That. I know books like these as "smash" books, and love the concept.

Basically, it's a book you can carry around with you and insert all the bits & pieces of your everyday life. Of course, you don't have to carry it around with you – you can leave it at home and add things there… you can make it what you wish – a scrapbook, a memory book, a book for lists and ideas… I always have a book to write things down in, and this just makes it more fun and creative! Products include stickers, washi tape, a rotary stamp, designer series paper and a journal. Of course, I've gone in for the bundle, which includes all the products at 15% off!  All you have to add is ink :)  While the items are going to be available in the new catalogue, the discounted bundle is only available until April 30th.

Oh – and there's a contest! You could win a trip for 2 to San Diego and a This and That bundle!  Click here to enter! (facebook) (don't worry, I won't make you take me as your +1….unless of course you really want to….ROFLOL) The contest is also open to April 30th. Good luck!

St. Patrick’s Day Card (no stamps required!)

You don't need to have the perfect stamp for every single occasion (though it's fun if you do….LOL). Here's a card for St. Patrick's Day using Stampin' Up!'s Full Heart punch.

St-paddys-card

Gumball Green, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White are the colours used for this card, and the Full Heart punch creates the leaves of the clover…and as my Irish friends will tell you, it is appropriate to use a 3 leaf clover, NOT a 4 leaf clover.

To create the stem, I simply punched a portion of the large oval (you don't think I would cut it by hand, do you?! I am the lazy crafter!). Punch half of the oval, then punch again beside it to create the curved stem of the clover.

OK so I do have ONE St Patrick's Day stamp…LOL One way to cover yourself for most of your card making needs is to get one great sentiment set. In this case, it's Teeny Tiny Wishes. All occasions are covered, and they can be used on the interior or exterior of your card.

Happy St Patrick's Day to you all, don't drink too much green beer 😉 (though again, my Irish born friends note that's a typically North American way to celebrate…).

Tuesday Tips – Clear Mount Stamp Storage

Clear-mount-storageTuesday Tips are a semi-regular occurrence here at YamStamps….designed to be quick ideas to make your crafting life easier.

Thought I'd share this quick and easy way to make clear mount stamp storage very visual. When you get your Stampin' Up! clear mount stamps, you pop them out of the rubber and adhere them to the labels (if you so desire..). Here's the blog post with a video I made a few years ago when Stampin' Up! first came out with clear mount stamps.  Soooooo – after you've assembled your stamps, don't throw out the rest of the rubber!!  If you remove the backing from the remainder of the rubber sheet, you can then stick the "outline" to the inside of the case, and the stamps fit into the open areas just like a jigsaw puzzle. Very easy to see if you're missing a stamp from a set! (and if you craft like me, this may happen….often….LOL).

Hope you enjoyed this Tuesday Tip. If there's any crafting/organizing challenge that you have or have overcome, please let me know and it could be part of a future Tuesday Tip!
