I’m always Chasing Rainbows! Combining some retiring and some new product on a simple, sparkly card
I thought this was such a pretty card – I love the rainbow theme!
It’s a super simple design but I wanted the sparkly rainbow arcs to stand out on my Chasing Rainbows Card. The Brilliant Rainbow Dies are from the January-June 2022 Mini Catalogue, and they’re retiring at the end of this month (or if they sell out before then). (That’s the “old” on this card). They’re part of the Last Chance Sale – and they’re 50% off!! Such a deal! If you want to get the coordinating Rainbow of Happiness stamp set, which is also retiring, you’ll want to purchase these separately – it’s the best deal because of the sale. Bundles typically offer a 10% discount on regular catalogue prices and are usually the more cost effective way of buying coordinating products – but it’s actually more expense than the separate items right now!
The arcs themselves are the 2022-2024 In Color Glimmer 6″ x 6″ Papers (well, 4/5 of them – since this rainbow only has 4 arcs). That’s the “new” on this card! Since this was one of our Stampers Club cards, I was able to cut a bunch of arcs at the same time and then everyone got one arc of each colour. So, yes, not always in ROYGBV order. (Though my sample is…LOL). Sample shows Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide and Orchid Opulence.
I guess the something “blue” if we are going with that theme is the background – it’s the new In Colour Starry Sky. I positioned the rainbow die with the cutting edge off the side of the cardstock so that it left an open end at the edge. I liked that it looks like we are seeing this half of the rainbow, and not literally half a rainbow.
I love the ombre effect on this glimmer paper….and I love that the glitter doesn’t come off all over the place. I love shiny stuff, but I tend to be a bit of a messy crafter, and so I need all the help I can get to try to contain the chaos and mess. I have actually started to use Liquid Glue a little more often these days – often because it’s right there, and I do like the ability to move things around a bit before they’re totally adhered in place. I still end up with glue on my fingers though LOL.

I love monochromatic themes, and used the one colour approach on this wedding wishes card.
I am partial to one colour cards – I always think they are so elegant. I like to add something to keep it interesting – and I think texture is a great way to do so.
For this card, I used the Forever Fern stamp set. I stamped the wider strip with the images of the leaves, varying first and second generation images in Soft Succulent ink so that I added some variation in the intensity of the image and colour. (First generation = inked the stamp and then stamped the cardstock; Second generation = inked the stamp, stamped off onto scrap paper once, then stamped onto the cardstock without re-inking the stamp). I then ran it through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder to add some texture. I stamped the sentiment on another strip of Very Vanilla and left it unembossed so it stood out more on the embossed background. I added a few green toned Genial Gems to tie in to my one colour theme, and to give it some bling, since it is a wedding wishes card!
I am so sad that the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder is retiring! It’s such a useful one to have to add just some subtle texture to my projects. If you don’t have this one in your crafting collection, it’s 20% off as part of the Last Chance Sale. Grab it before it’s gone – all retiring product is while supplies last or 2 May 2022, whichever comes first… The Genial Gems are 40% off so you can add lots of bling at a good price, too! You can download the Annual catalogue retiring lists from this post here. I’d recommend the spreadsheet version if you can – it’s sortable and the print is bigger!
I’m sad to see some favourites retire, but this only means there’s room for new items in the next Annual Catalogue, right? I am automatically sending catalogues to those who have placed orders with me during the last year, but if you’d like to get one (or be sure you’re on my list), you can complete this form. If you don’t already have a Stampin’ Up! Canadian demonstrator with whom you do business, I’d be happy to help you.
Stampin’ Up! has just released the last chance lists – here’s the list of products that will be retiring from the Annual Catalogue. Please note that in some cases, bundles of products will be discontinued, but the components will still be available individually in the next catalogue.
Stampin’ Up! will be releasing the Retiring List on Wednesday 23 March 2022. What do YOU think will be included on the list this year? Take your best guess and WIN!
Email me with your list of TEN stamp sets from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue that you believe will be on the retiring list (excluding Host stamp sets). Emails must be received by 10pm Eastern on Tuesday 22 March 2022 (that would be 22:00 because I liked the symmetry of it all!). Open to Canadian residents only.
The person with the most correct guesses will receive a $25 gift certificate for products or classes through YamStamps.com. In the case of a tie, the earlier submission will be declared the winning entry. (I’m pretty sure non-winning entries will receive some sort of compensation as well, though….just saying).
Happy December! (I know, it’s been December for almost a week….I’m catching up I guess?!! LOL). My YamStamps email newsletter will have the December multiproject edition going out tomorrow (Tuesday 7 December) and will include some of this information as well. Photo below for attention…and also to show off the Knit Sweater Dies – one of the dies that is on the Last Chance Sales List!
First up – the July-December Mini Catalogue sales period is coming to a close (if you couldn’t figure out by the name of the catalogue itself…). Stampin’ Up! has some of the retiring product from this catalogue at sales pricing right now! You can download and check out the list here (spreadsheet) or here (pdf).
Next up – you may have noticed this already if you’ve placed an online order through the YamStamps Online Stampin’ Up! Canada store – there are no more “backorders” on items. (Quite honestly, I’m amazed this hasn’t been instituted until now). With the global supply chain issues and shipping issues, it’s harder and harder for companies to maintain the flow of goods at previously predictable rates. Until now, Stampin’ Up! has been placing products on backorder and shipping them out when supply reaches the warehouses. Starting this month, you’ll still be able to order your Stampin’ Up! products (or have me place the order for you), but if an item is not currently in stock, the code will be “turned off” and the product will be unavailable to order until stock is replenished. If you have any items at present still on backorder, they will be shipped as soon as stock is available, so have no fear. It’s just going forward, you’ll either be able to order the items, or not.
What does this mean for you? Well – in many cases, probably not a big change in how things are happening now, but there’s a few things I would encourage. 1) If you MUST have that Stampin’ Up! item, don’t hesitate! Include it on your next order 2) If you are nervous that an item will go out of stock, your best and most timely bet is to place the order yourself online. Shortcut is yamstamps.com/shop; once you’ve placed your order it will ship directly to you. You’ll also know instantly whether or not you’ll get everything you want – because if it’s not available to order it won’t let you add it to your shopping cart.
If you want me to place the order for you, I’m happy to enter it as always, though please be aware that there may be a delay between when you contact me and when I place the order. I will contact you via email or phone if something is not available to order. You can then substitute an item or go ahead without it.
