Where does the time go?

Well tonight it will be going away – don't forget to spring forward! (I must admit, this is not my favourite time of year, I quite enjoy the falling back).

So…my excuse for not having a new post up in the last few days is that I was busy recovering!!

My running buddy Amber & I just completed the Chilly Half Marathon!  It was not too bad a run, if I say so myself, though the weather wasn't fantastic.  Snow had fallen overnight, and roads getting to the race start point were icy.  The race route itself wasn't too icy, but definitely slushy in parts – ick.  Thank goodness for my wool socks!!

Interestingly enough, while this was a "big race", mentally for me it wasn't as big a deal as it might have been, as I was treating this (more or less) like a training run for the "big race" – which to me is the Around the Bay race in a couple of weeks.  It's a little further, and a lot hillier near the end! It was helpful not to get "psyched out".  Not sure what I'll do to keep myself from freaking out for the Around the Bay, though!

In the meantime now, I'm preparing for an upcoming workshop with a bunch of Big & Little Sisters (should be fun!) and Stampers and Scrappers Club.  There's still time to get free product – host a workshop, place an order or sign up as a demonstrator – until the end of March, Sale-a-Bration is still in effect!  Contact me if you have any questions.

Embossed Monogram Card

Embossed-monogram-card Looking through some of my recent samples, I realized I've been a bit remiss in sharing them with you!

This is card made with the Framed Tulip Embossing Folder.  I love my Big Shot and how easy it is to "make an impression" (haha) with the embossing folders.  The L is from the Lovely Letters set, and the Designer Label punch was used on the Pink Pirouette cardstock. I liked the quiet effect of the solitary colour scheme, but used Stampin' Dimensionals for the monogram letter to make sure it stood out a bit.

If you've been thinking about taking the plunge and getting your own Big Shot, Sale-a-Bration is the perfect time to do so!  It will earn you FREE Sale-a-Bration product!  Contact me to find out more.

My first race – done!

My friend Amber & I completed our first race today – a 10km!  Amber had a lofty goal of finishing in under an hour.  I quite frankly, just wanted to finish….but was aiming for a time of 1 hour 5 minutes.  It was a cool day, windy at times, but we managed!  We've been doing 10-1 intervals – meaning 10 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking, repeatedly.  We started out rather fast, and did slow down near the end…well…I did at least LOL.  However, I finished faster than I'd hoped (not sure what the exact time was but it was under 1 hour 5 minutes – by a couple of minutes or so!) and Amber broke the hour mark.  It was a fun and great experience…though I did have a quick nap this afernoon LOL.

Here's some photos from the day – and thanks to my mom (aka "Grandma") and my son for coming to cheer me on – that's part of the reason for my big smile near the finish line – seeing D cheering for me!

Amber's talking I think, but I'm just happy to still be upright – I think this was literally a minute or two after I crossed the line.  I think Amber's holding me up…ROFLOL.

Thanks for looking, just wanted to share this part of my running journey with you all.  Back to crafty stuff in the next post, promise!!
