Scallop Notes Card

Sweetheartcard Another "love"ly card to share – not necessarily just for Valentine’s Day, either!  This uses Stampin’ Up!’s scallop notes – mini cards with envelopes.  The cards are already scallop edged – no corner rounder or slit punch work required here!  This is one of the very vanilla cards (there are 10 each of vanilla, kraft and soft sky).  I stamped images from Sweet shapes – the rectangles (all one stamp, isn’t it neat how it comes out in gradation of shades?) are in soft sky, the "sweet" is in blue bayou, and the heart is done in ruby red.  I adhered a strip of rub red on the inside portion of the back flap of the card to have the scallops show up a bit more.  Quick and easy!  (my favourite type of card)

Valentine’s Card

Happyheartdaycard How time flies when you’re digging out from under multiple snow falls….  (sounds like a good excuse, doesn’t it?!)

Anyway – it hasn’t been all about the snow.  This is a card "cased" ("Copied and stamped" (or "stolen") !) from a fellow demonstrator, Leslie Good – because it’s so cute!  I only changed a few things to suit the supplies I had on hand…  The Happy Heart Day image is stamped in stazon jet black & coloured with stampin’ write markers.  The mouse was actually coloured with bordering blue stampin’ write marker that was scribbled onto a closed ink pad case and then picked up with a blender pen – makes the colour a little lighter so you can see the mouse’s features.  Dazzling diamonds glitter was applied to the heart with 2 way glue after the heart was coloured with pretty in pink.  The tab was made from apricot appeal cardstock (matches the flower on the heart) with the word window punch and I added a clear rhinestone brad from the pretties kit.  The card base is mellow moss and we stamped with versamark & coloured in the hearts on the flower with the versamarker to make it stand out more.  The sentiment on the inside is "To someone with a big heart".

I’m in the midst of prepping for a birthday party class for next week – looking forward to showing off the completed project here once it’s finished (and maybe after the bday party….don’t want to ruin the surprise for the birthday girl!).

Valentine’s Bundle

Valbundleidea Stampin’ Up!’s Valentine Bundle Special is running until this Thursday (the 31st of January already, how time flies!).  This is a goodie bag done with items from the bundle.  The bag topper is made with the Happy Heart Day stamp set.  The butterfly is stamped 3 times and coloured in with stampin’ write markers (I used Bashful Blue and Gable Green for the bodies).  The medium cello bags (part of the bundle) fit a number of Hershey kisses easily (could have put a few more in here….but then I should have eaten a few less while doing this…LOL).  The bag topper is real red cardstock folded in half and the bow is the 2 hole bow (tutorial here), here using the wide real red grosgrain that comes with the bundle.  The tag is punched with the small & regular sized tag punch, and I added some rose pink fine cosmo glitter to the hearts with my 2 way glue pen.  If you want to take advantage of this great deal (the bundle represents a 20% savings over purchasing the items individually!) – contact me before Thursday!

This will be one of the projects we do in the Lovely Cards class Wednesday, Feb 6th; class is held in Burlington, an easy drive from Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Ancaster, Oakville, or Milton (we’ve even had attendees from Toronto and Markham!)  RSVP to reserve your spot if you haven’t done so already!

Time Well Spent

Timewellspentoutside Timewellspentinside

I recently attended Stampin’ Up!’s Leadership Conference in Palm Springs, California – so the sentiment on the inside of the card rings true for me!  "Time spent with friends is time well spent".  I had a great time seeing friends and catching up, meeting new friends and getting to know old friends better.  This card uses Apricot Appeal as the base, with a strip of Cutie Pie Designer Series Paper.  The stamp set is Time Well Spent, a level 3 hostess set that was a gift from Shelli Gardner, co-founder & CEO of Stampin’ Up! to all Demonstrators!  I stamped the images in Stazon Jet Black onto Stampin’ Up!’s watercolour paper.  The images were watercoloured with the aquapainter and classic ink.  Last but not least, I used a build-a-brad in the centre of the flower.  The colours used on the image were pulled from the designer series paper (a no-brainer for colour combos – copy!!) – purely pomegranate, bashful blue & apricot appeal.  We did this card at Stampers Club the other evening; good to get together with those friends as well!

Just a reminder that I’m having an Opportunity Night this Wednesday.  Please RSVP if you are able to attend – you’ll have the chance to find out more about what’s involved in being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.

watercolouring attempt…

Watercolouredchef This is a rather "iffy" photo of my attempt at watercolouring.  My friend and fellow demonstrator, Mo Dickie, invited me to a watercolouring class, offered by her friend Lia.  We used the chef from the Voila set (yet another set onto my wish list, *sigh*).  Using stampin’ write markers on the image, we went over it with our aquapainters to blend the colour.  My key points to remember?  Work in a small area at one time, and don’t be afraid to go back later to build up the colour more.  I did the shadow a second time to help "pop" the chef a little more.  Thanks again Lia & Mo for a fun class!

Simple Spring Card

Springhostessbundlecard A quick & easy card using the Stampin’ Up! level 2 hostess "set" Spring Solitude Bundle.  This bundle, available to hostesses with workshop sales of $450 or above, consists of a 6 piece stamp set and a stampin’ around wheel!

This is the make & take from my Spring-Summer Collection open house last week.  It uses my favourite "fall back" colours (because I can always rely on them!) – mellow moss, perfect plum and pale plum.  I added a touch of moss gingham ribbon as well.  Congrats to Isabell, who won the hostess benefits for orders placed at the Open House!

I still have some January openings for workshops, so if you’re interested, please contact me to set a date!
