Vellum Window Card

This vellum window card has been inspiration for my next online class!

I created this vellum window card for a card swap featuring products from the September-December 2023 Mini Catalogue….and it provided a focus point for my next online class! The upcoming Window Card Class will feature a number of designs with windows or window effects. It’s a fun way to add interest to your cards.

I love the new Wishes All Around Discounted Bundle – it has a stamp set and coordinating/complimenting dies. I used it for my swap and thought that a window effect rather than just a layer on the front of the card would make it more interesting and fun.

I used the new Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder to add some texture to the Starry Sky Cardstock – I love how it ties in with the whole snowflake theme of the card. To make my life a little easier, I applied an Adhesive Sheet to some Basic White Cardstock before I die cut the circle of snowflakes. That way, I just peeled off the liner and applied it to the cardfront! OK truth be told, for my prototype I didn’t do that, and I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the snowflake circle in place. I realized that having to do that repeatedly (I had to make this card in bulk) would probably not end as well as it started…

The card open…

and closed. I had to add the bling to the snowflakes with the Rhinestone Basic Jewels – I think it just makes the card even more special. (They are my go-to when I need to add a little something to my cards).

You can see how well the sentiment shows through the window when the card is closed. In the online class, I’ll walk you through the steps of making a card like this one and my tips for easy construction. I’ll be sharing more details about the Window Card Class tomorrow, so come back to the YamStamps site to learn more and take advantage of Early Bird pricing!

Merry Christmas 2022!

Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas!

I hope that you are staying safe and warm with this crazy winter weather!

Hoping that you are able to spend some time with family and friends – whether in person or virtually. We’ll be video calling with my brother on the west coast later today….and perhaps we’ll venture out to see if we can clear the driveway (my excuse is that it’s been too windy so far – what’s the point of clearing it when it will all get covered again by blowing snow?!).

Hope you’re able to get in a bit of crafting, too! Thank you for being part of the YamStamps community!

Easy Fun Fold Christmas Card

Warming up for the Twelve Weeks of Christmas with this easy fun fold Christmas Card!

The Twelve Weeks of Christmas project tutorials start today at 1pm Eastern, so be on my mailing list before that time to get all twelve projects! (Click on the link, or use the sign up box at the top right of the site). In the meantime, I’m warming up with this easy fun fold Christmas Card!

Easy Fun Fold Christmas Card

This is a fantastic card design because it’s so easy but impressive (my kind of project). The card front is cut in half and then rotated to make the “flap” portion. The other thing that I like is that is has a dark cardbase, but with lighter panels built into the design, so you can still write on the card easily (and the person receiving it can read it easily too!).

I did call this an easy fun fold Christmas card, but I hope that it’s obvious that you can switch it up to whatever occasion you might like, just by changing the sentiment and papers….though the papers on this card could be for any celebration! I used the Lights Aglow Designer Series Paper for the accent pieces, and I used the one design that is on a vanilla background – I like that there’s a pattern that doesn’t have white as the base, as a change. The gorgeous sentiment is from the Brightest Glow stamp set (love that font!!), stamped onto a die cut from the Labels Aglow dies. The stamps and dies are available together in the Brightest Glow discounted bundle (July-December 2022 Mini Catalogue availability). I pulled the Merry Merlot colour from the paper background to use for the cardstock and ink.

As we get closer to the card sending/gift giving season, a reminder that Stampin’ Up!, like pretty much all companies, is dealing with “supply chain issues” that may affect product availability. Products may be unorderable for a period of time until stock hits the warehouses. One of the easiest ways to see if current catalogue product is available or not is to check the online store. The shortcut to the YamStamps Online Stampin’ Up! Canada store is https://yamstamps.com/shop. If you look up an item in the store, it usually says “unorderable” if a product is unavailable at that time, so you’ll know right away.

If you’re on my list, look forward to seeing the first project tutorial at 1pm eastern today! See you in your inbox!

Silver Snowflake Card

I know, it’s still summer, but I have good reason to share this silver snowflake card right now!

Really! This Silver Snowflake Card features some Sale-a-Bration paper that is only available until the end of August (or while supplies last) – so I need to share this with you sooner rather than later….

Silver Snowflake Card

This is another quick and easy card. I think silver is perfect for a snow card, though you could choose to go with gold, because that’s the other tone in the Silver & Gold 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. You can select this for free with a $60CAD product order. I teamed it up with some of the Silver Foil Specialty Pack – which is ALSO now part of the Sale-a-Bration product line! You can select it with a $60CAD product order (purchase $120CAD worth and you can get both of these paper packs!). Please remember that if you are choosing the Silver Foil as your Sale-a-Bration freebie – that you select the correct item code – because it’s different than the regular catalogue code. If you’re shopping in the YamStamps Online Stampin’ Up! Canada store (shortcut https://yamstamps.com/shop), the SAB option has a pink banner on it. (see the image below)

Once Sale-a-Bration is over at the end of August, you’ll still be able to get the Silver Foil by purchasing it on a regular order, though it’s not quite as fun as saying “I got this for free!” LOL.

The snowflakes on the silver snowflake card were die cut with the Frosted Flurry Dies. These dies coordinate with the Joyful Flurry stamp set. Some of these dies do partial die cuts – like the Pretty Pop Ups Card that I shared with you here. These small snowflakes are a full die cut, though, so made some cute accents for the cardfront.

This silver snowflake card is part of my quest to bring a seasonal holiday card to each Stampers Club session until we hit December! Nothing like having a small stash of special cards that you can give to special people. If you’re interested in joining us in Stampers Club, it’s a great way to budget out your craft spending, make some fun projects and learn some new techniques – and get free product! You can read more about Stampers Club on the YamStamps Events Page. We are currently continuing to meet virtually, so while it’s not quite the same as crafting together in person (which we will resume at SOME point in time), there are some advantages. One is that you can join from wherever you are in Canada! The other is that if Club Members can’t make the “live” Zoom class, they can access the recording on our members only site at their convenience. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to join us!
