Dec 19, 2009 | Christmas, rubber stamping
I like using some "non-traditional" Christmas colours for holiday cards. Here's a card that uses Almost Amethyst and Elegant Eggplant together. The angel from Holy Tryptich is stamped in Encore Silver Metallic Ink, and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice. The eyelet border punch is used on the Almost Amethyst layers and is highlighted by placing Elegant Eggplant behind them.
I've been trying to finish getting my cards in the mail! For me, it's one thing to get the cards made, it seems to be another thing entirely to write them out and get them into the mailbox!!
I hope that the countdown to Christmas is going smoothly for you. Don't forget that Stampin' Up!'s Twelve Days special is still running – a good chance to get some great Big Shot supplies at a sale price! Contact me to place your order before the 22nd – don't miss out!

The Burlington Santa Claus parade was yesterday….I had a good viewing spot for the tail end of it – very close to the Starbucks LOL. It's definitely chillier outside these days…here's a quick way to winterize your cards… The tree trunk from the Stampin' Up! set "Season of Friendship" is stamped in Chocolate Chip onto Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the bird in Ruby Red on the branch. The snowflakes are stamped onto vellum cardstock in Ballet Blue, and then attached to the image with gold brads. The slight opacity of the vellum reminds me of those cold snowy days. I really like the vellum overlay technique and have used it on a number of different cards – it's really effective!
If you are hoping to get your favourite crafter some Stampin' Up! gifts, get your order in ASAP – we need to allow a bit more time for delivery with the increased amount of parcels in the system these days! Place your order online here or contact me directly. Stampin' Up! has recommended THIS Tuesday, December 8th if you'd like to be sure to get your package before Christmas.

Another non-Christmas/holiday card for you… This is one of my favourite sentiments – If nothing ever changed there would be no butterflies… Designed by Andrea for our previous Stamp a Stack, it uses the Stampin Up! set Flight of the Butterfly. I love how the butterfly punch coordinates with the images in this set. I don't usually like to do a lot of "fussy cutting", so coordinating punches are right up my alley.
Off to finish up prep work for the Mississauga Holiday Stamp a Stack this weekend. One more holiday stamp a stack and then it's back to "regular" workshops and classes.
I am finalizing my mini catalogue mail outs in the next few days…if you're in Canada and would like a copy of the upcoming Sale-a-Bration and Occasions Mini Catalogues, please contact me. I'll need your mailing address and your phone number to be sure that I can provide good customer service. (Oh, and TRUST me – you're going to want to get your hands on these upcoming minis….nudge nudge wink wink). Say no more!

To give you a change of pace from the holiday themed cards I have been posting…here's a Thinking of You card that we did the other evening at club. We used Stampin' Up!'s Eastern Blooms set, and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. Gold elastic cord for accents. For the knot, we used 2 pieces of cord, doubled over & knotted in the middle; the ends of the cord are adhered behind the image. Just a little different way to use your cording for an accent.
The last two weeks of November are busy for me – Christmas Card Clinic, two stamp a stacks and a workshop! OK I'm back to the stamp room to cut cardstock!

Stampin' Up! is now offering Hostess sets in the Mini Catalogues in addition to the choices in the Idea Book and Catalogue – plenty of decisions to make when you select your free hostess set! This hostess only stamp set is in the Holiday Mini Catalogue – Snow Buddes. I stamped the snow men on Whisper White cardstock and tore around the images to create the snowbanks. Stars in Encore Metallic Gold ink and a touch of colour with Stampin' Write markers complete the card.
If you'd like to earn free merchandise, consider hosting a class with your friends! Depending on workshop sales, hostesses can earn free merchandise, exclusive hostess sets and take advantage of hostess only specials. This month, if your workshop sales are $330 or more, you can receive any item in the Holiday Mini for just $14!! (Excludes hostess sets and My Digital Studio software). If your sales are $525 or over, you can purchase the My Digital Studio software for HALF PRICE! Contact me for details.
Nov 5, 2009 | Christmas, rubber stamping

This was inspired by a demonstrator friend, Darlene, using the ornament punch. This fun card element can be flattened for mailing, and "puffed up" by the recipient. Punch out the ornament 6 times (I used the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper – the flocked red patterned piece) and fold each in half vertically (good side in). Adhere the "bad" sides of the punch outs to each other, and adhere the two outside edges to the cardfront. I added some gold elastic cord to complete the ornament effect.
This card also uses the ticket corner punch, whisper white organza and the stamp set Teeny Tiny Wishes.
I have lots of stamping events happening this month. Contact me if you're thinking of making your own holiday cards this year!
