Nov 16, 2015 | Announcements, Events, Retired List, Seasonal Catalogue, Stampin' Up!

For the first time, Stampin’ Up! is advising us what product in the seasonal catalogue will not be returning in a future catalogue – in other words, what will be retiring! In the past, it was a guessing game, figuring out what “might” come back in a future annual catalogue – well now, it’s not (although I’m doing the guessing game of “WHAT? Why wouldn’t they bring THAT back again?!” LOL). So we’re saying goodbye to some items: here’s the list, you can download it in pdf or sortable spreadsheet….and get shopping…

What were you most sad to see on the list? My big sad: Sleighride Edgelits. I thought for sure they’d make a reappearance in the future!
One thing that is taking the edge off the sadness….saying hello to friends old and new! I spent the Friday evening and Saturday at a new Stampin’ Up! demonstrator event called On Stage and Centre Stage. These replace the convention, are semi-annual, and are going to be held all over – this one was in Brussels, Belgium – but there were multiple smaller events coordinated with the Brussels event all over North America & the Pacific! We saw some footage from Brussels, plus had live demonstrations and sessions. There is nothing like getting together with a bunch of Stampin’ Up! demos to be inspired and entertained. I can’t share any photos of the product or catalogues we saw there at this time (top secret!) but here’s a non-incriminating photo….(well, that’s a relative term I suppose)

These are some of the “Eh” Team – my family of demonstrators, (Karen, Gail and Leanne; Mary was still en route) and myself with Dale Hampshire, the Stampin’ Up! Canada Manager. We learned a lot and laughed a lot this weekend, and it’s always great to meet up with friends.
Centre Stage is a leadership event, with a catered dinner and presentation on the Friday evening – I was too busy eating and talking to take a lot of photos at the time (I know you’re surprised….) but here’s a photo of the lovely flowers from our table. They must have made sure everyone knew the colour palette because my friends in other cities had similar (but not identical) arrangements!

Anyway, I’m off to finish preparations for Stampers Club today! I will have orders going in, so if you’re interested in grabbing any of the retiring Holiday Catalogue product, or any items for your holiday crafting, you can contact me for assistance or have me include your order if you’re local to Burlington, or shop online at the YamStamps Online Stampin’ Up! Canada store. Happy Shopping!
Nov 13, 2015 | cards, Stampin' Up!

Or even if it’s not…here’s a fun birthday card for some who is celebrating! This card features the Stampin’ Up! set Build a Birthday. This set is photopolymer, meaning that the material with which you stamp will be clear (or in my case, a little stained perhaps, but still see through-ish). I find this makes it a bit easier to line up the elements for the cake – each layer is a different stamp. In this case, all the layers were the same colour, but you could make it a multi-coloured cake if you wish! Chocolate Chip (I thought that was appropriate) and Tempting Turquoise are the colours, and yes, I re-inked my Tempting Turquoise ink pad after making this card….so the cards from the class were a bit more vivid. I have found the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits Dies to be so useful – I think I’ve used this label die on a card at each of my last few classes – in this case, it’s for the birthday wishes sentiment (love that script).
If you’ve signed up for my newsletter, you’ll notice that you are asked for your birth month. Starting in the new year, newsletter recipients will receive an extra mailing during their birthday month. Don’t worry if you didn’t enter your month at the time you signed up, I’ll have you covered as well…. If you haven’t yet signed up (you’ll still be in time for the remaining mailings for the 12 Weeks of Christmas as well) – use the form in the corner of the blog or click here.

I love how vellum makes projects look even more impressive. This simple card was made using Stampin’ Up!’s Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. For this card, two strips of the silver snowflake vellum were layered on top of each other and bordered by some White Glitter Ribbon. Ignore that the top ribbon is slightly wonky….I learned from this and everyone in club learned a technique to make sure that their ribbon was straight!! (I’ll put up a video about it later this week – promise!)
If you want to find out more about how to use vellum in your cardmaking, then be sure to register for the November Christmas Card Class – REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS TODAY! Class happens on November 19th at 7pm here in Burlington, and your $30 class fee includes a package of Iced Rhinestones and the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack. You’ll use some of the product to make your 4 cards that evening, and take the rest home – plenty to make more projects! See the YamStamps Events Page or click below to register by PayPal. Contact me if you have any questions. See you in class!

Nov 2, 2015 | Announcements, cards, Stampin' Up!, YamStampsMore

My favourite thing about autumn is the changing colours, though around here, the trees are starting to get bare – lots of colourful leaves on the ground! I love Stampin’ Up!’s Sheltering Tree stamp set, and here it’s combined with the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It uses the same technique that we did on CHCH Morning Live a little while ago – ink the leaves in Hello Honey, and then use a sponge dauber to randomly apply a second colour – in this case, Tangerine Tango. This is a great card that can be used for any occasion.
If you’re looking for card ideas, and holiday cards in particular, I’ve teamed with a friend for my latest online class offering. Holiday Cards are the focus – and each class features a different holiday stamp set. You can purchase an individual class for $10 CAD or get all four for $30. See more information here. You’ll be able to access the class materials instantly! If you prefer the “hands on” type of learning, don’t forget the upcoming Christmas Card Class November 19th, or the Stamp a Stack on November 28th. (more information and registration here) See? No excuses not to have at least a few handmade cards for those special people on your list!
