I love the new Stylish Shapes Dies that are in the Stampin’ Up! Canada 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue, and we used them to create a fun frame effect on this Hello There Floral Card that we made in Stampers Club in May.

Frugal Friday Tip….the frame and main image are the reverse sides of the same piece of Designer Series Paper! I die cut the largest square with the lattice design up. I then flipped that square over so the floral side was up, and then die cut the next smaller square. The die has a stitched edge on it, so I wanted the main stitched area to be the “right way” (indented) on the floral piece. It’s reverse on the inner edge of the lattice patterned frame, but I don’t mind that as much. This paper is the Design a Daydream Designer Series Paper – and it’s a huge package of 48 sheets which you can only select with your Stampin’ Rewards. You earn Stampin’ Rewards when you place a single order with product of $200 or more – this could be a workshop order where many people place orders at one time (like for my Stampers Club), a single person order, or in my case, a single Demonstrator order…LOL.

I thought I’d tie in the stitched theme on my Hello There floral card by using the Stitched Greenery Die on the background. This is one of my favourite dies because it adds texture and interest but doesn’t take away from the main focal element! I stamped the sentiment from the Nature’s Prints stamp set on a small square and then adhered it at the same angle with some Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it some lift.

If you’d like to join our Stampers Club, our next get together will be Monday 13 June. We continue to meet virtually at this time via Zoom. The one good thing about meeting by Zoom is that we can record the sessions and members have ongoing access to the recordings in our Members Only site. The other good thing is that if you don’t live close to Burlington Ontario, you can still join, since all I have to do is mail your class packet to you, and you can join us virtually too! Contact me if you’d like to join us for a 6 month membership. You can get more information on the YamStamps event page, or you can message me if you have any questions. We’d love to have you join us!

Empty Nesting (again)

It’s that time of year when I see all the Facebook updates from my friends with kids of similar ages – we’re empty nesting (again)! Last minute shopping and prepping to send our offspring (back) to university has been happening this week. I laughed because last year I did so much research and preparing ahead of time for my son’s first year, and this year it was more like – oh my gosh, you’re leaving this weekend – maybe we should go grab stuff for your apartment….?!!

Anyway – here’s a wonderful sentiment for everyone heading off to school this week – or to new adventures. This is the Sunday Swap Share – created by Ellie Blake.

She’s featured the Sailing Home stamp set and the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper, along with the nautical looking Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine. I love this fancy cut/fold card. Frugal Crafter Alert! I’m pretty sure that Ellie’s cardstock is 4.25″ x 11″ and then she’s cut a portion from half the card – which is then used as the background for her image on the the front panel!

I love this sentiment, and it’s so appropriate for this month. September is a great time to set new goals and directions! My personal goal is to up my water intake (well okay, it’s been a goal for a little while now – but I’m buckling down about it this month!!).

You’ll want to check back on the YamStamps blog and get on my mailing list to be sure that you get to hear about all the upcoming specials and events happening in the YamStamps / Stampin’ Up! world – there’s some starting in the next few days!

Frugal Friday Video Tip!

Semi-regularly, I’ll post a Frugal Friday idea. Today’s idea helps you to get more life out of those icky, old glue sticks. You know, the ones you didn’t quite get the cap on correctly, or haven’t used in ages so the glue dries up into a hard, yellowy lump. Not sure what I’m talking about? Check out my video to see!! LOL. Don’t forget if you’d like to stock up on more glue sticks, they’re only available while supplies last…

This Tool Tip was shot on my iphone…so at one point things aren’t quite perfectly framed….but you’ll still get the idea! The video is embedded below, if you can’t see it, click here to go to the video on the YamStamps Youtube channel.
