Scary!

Happy Halloween!

Hope you have a fun Halloween! If you’re like me, you’re sure to stock up on the Halloween goodies that YOU like, you know, just in case you have leftovers. Or get hungry while you’re waiting for the kids to come to the door.

Did you see the fun card I shared yesterday on the Sunday Swaps Page? Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators often exchange cards or cardfronts to share creative ideas and inspiration. I’ve been sharing some of these on the YamStamps Facebook page each Sunday, and I have a dedicated page on the YamStamps site to share the details of each of those posts.

Here’s some more fun projects using that same Scary Cute Bundle!

It’s the last day of the month, so the scary news I have to share…..it’s the last day to get the Starter Kit+! The other scary thing that often happens on the last day of any promotion – the website gets bogged down with people jumping in at the last minute. So if you’ve been hesitating, please don’t wait any longer. The Starter Kit+ Promotion means that for the same $135CAD, you get extra product of your choice. It’s usually a good way to start your own business, with $165CAD worth of product of your choice, but until 1159PM Mountain time, you’ll get $206 worth of product of your choice! Every starter kit also comes with a past Paper Pumpkin kit (the all in one crafting subscription kit), and all the basic business supplies you’ll need to get you started. You’re ready to go as soon as your kit arrives! When you sign up through me, you become part of the “Eh” Team – my group of demonstrators. That means you have me as part of your support system, along with the rest of the group. You can check out my Demonstrator Starter Kit FAQ page here.

Happy Haunting to all! I’m off to taste test the chocolate to make sure it’s fresh enough to hand out. haha!!

Hey There, Pumpkin!

A cute Halloween card to showcase as today’s Sunday Swap Share.

hey there pumpkin card

Isn’t it fun? Created by Rose Marie Coleman, this Halloween card showcases the Harvest Hellos Bundle, which includes Harvest Hellos stamp set and the coordinating Apple Builder Punch, which obviously can double as a Pumpkin Builder Punch! Remember that the bundle is discounted so you save a little money on the coordinating products too!

It’s a bit of a fun fold card as well – easily created by cutting the cardstock to 4.25″ x 11″, folding in half and then cutting off a portion of the front of the card. The Monster Bash Designer Series Paper adds even more interest! This cute card would be great to give to your favourite trick or treater!

If you’re looking for seasonal inspiration outside of Halloween, don’t forget that YamStamps Newsletter Subscribers are currently enjoying the Twelve Weeks of Christmas series. This extra newsletter is my way of thanking subscribers – each week brings a different holiday project. We’re showcasing card ideas right now, but will move on to gifts and packaging inspiration in the next few weeks. You can subscribe to the YamStamps Newsletter here, or go here for more information. If you’d like in person inspiration, check out the YamStamps Events page if you’re local to Burlington Ontario. Come to a class, or get a group of friends together and I will bring the class to you! You are FaBOOlous

I don’t send a lot of Hallowe’en cards, so I don’t always choose to buy a specific Stampin’ Up! Hallowe’en set (*gasp* yes, it’s true, I do not own every single stamp from the Stampin’ Up1 catalogue…). There are definitely ways around that, though! My son is older now, so there’s not a lot of call for class treats or scrapbook pages, but it’s still fun to mark the day and have something on hand just in case the occasion arises. My Paper Pumpkin subscription often fills in the gaps for me – there’s usually something fall or Hallowe’en themed around this time of year that I can use for special trick or treaters or for a quick project. For this card, I used a sentiment from the Holiday Catalogue host only set, Six Sayings. I love this particular set (and was thrilled to win it when I was at Stampin’ Up!’s North American convention earlier this year). It has a stamp for Hallowe’en, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and Valentine’s Day, though they could be used in other situations in some cases. The paper along the edge of the card is from the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper, which has some definitely spooky themed designs, but also has designs that can be used in other situations (the scenic card from the other day for example). I used a portion of one of the Spider Web Doilies to finish the front of the card. I used the remainder of the doily inside the card as well. These doilies are two sided, with a black side and a white side, so I definitely think you can get away with using them on non-Hallowe’en projects. We made this card in Stamper’s Club this month, so everyone has at least one card for a special trick or treater! If you’re in the Burlington area and you’d like to join us at club, new members may start their 6 month membership at any club class – the next one is November 16th at 1pm or 7pm. Please contact me for details! If you’re not local to Burlington, contact me about online club options!

Non-Hallowe’en use for Hallowe’en Paper

silent-halloween-night

Last year, I found that I used Stampin’ Up!’s Hallowe’en themed Designer Series Paper for a lot of non-Hallowe’en projects – and this year looks to be similar! (and yes, using an apostrophe in that word is something I can’t shake. It just feels like a horrible error if I leave it out). The Happy Haunting paper from the Holiday Catalogue definitely has some specific Hallowe’en images – I’ll share some with you during this week, but thought I’d kick off this week by a non-Hallowe’en card with this paper. This past weekend, I did an in home card making party with Sue and her friends. She won the Silent Auction package that I donated to Tansley United Church a while back, so had a free class for 6 people plus a voucher for merchandise. We made this quick and easy holiday card using the Sleigh Ride Edgelits and the star paper from the Happy Haunting Designer Series Package. I love the effect of the starry sky behind the village! The stars are not so large that they overwhelm the silhouettes either – I tried a version with the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder and found the stars seemed too big for the cut outs for my taste. The other neat thing about this Designer Series Paper is that it has a vanilla base rather than a white base. Add in a sentiment from the coordinating Jingle All the Way set (get the edgelits and stamps at a discount in the bundle)  in Basic Gray ink and you’re done!

If you’re looking to get some Christmas cards done, there’s plenty of opportunity to make your own. November’s Monthly Card Class (Weds 4 Nov) will have one holiday card and one masculine card in the mix (you make 4 different cards during class); November’s Christmas Card Class (Thurs 19 Nov) will feature 4 holiday cards made using the Winter Wonderland Vellum Stack and Iced Rhinestones embellishments – your class fee includes full packages of each and you will use some during class and take the remainders home with you; finally, the Christmas Stamp a Stack (Sat 28 Nov 10 am or 1 pm) to create 10 cards (5 different patterns) to really get a whole bunch of cards done in time for the holiday mailing deadlines. See the YamStamps Events Page for more details and to register. Please note the registration deadlines – especially for the Christmas Card Class. Please contact me if you have any questions or need assistance registering. Don’t forget – if you’re really interested in one of these classes but can’t make that date, get a group of friends together and I will bring the class to you!

Fast and Easy Hallowe’en Card

ghoulish-greetingsI love how fast and easy this card was! It uses Stampin’ Up!’s Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper (once again), combined with the Ghoulish Greetings stamp set. I did add a couple of bats from the Freaky Friends set that coordinates with the DSP but thought I’d let the images on the paper be the main focus. Why work harder than you need to??!! Adding some Basic Black ink around the edges of the paper and cardstock gives a less pristine look to the card. I don’t usually send out a lot of Hallowe’en cards, but using the DSP makes it easy to come up with a few creations…and as I showed you the other day, there are “non-Hallowe’en” uses for this DSP as well!! (I guess that should have been a Frugal Friday tip??)

Tonight is the scheduled night for the Hallowe’en Wreath Class. If you didn’t register in time for this class, but still want to make a wreath, I have a couple of extra kits, so please contact me if you’d like to purchase one! Stampin’ Up! demonstrators don’t do cash & carry (we don’t carry stock) but we can for certain items – adhesives and kits most notably, so the wreath falls into this category! So if you need a wreath kit NOW (in time to make it for Hallowe’en) – contact me 🙂
