Olympic Rings – Stampin’ Up! version

Olympic-ringsI'm so excited to watch the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies today!!  I used to live in BC, and still have some ties to the Vancouver area.  I was inspired to create a version of the Olympic Rings…Stampin' Up! style.  From left to right – Pacific Point (retired In Colour), Summer Sun, Basic Black, Glorious Green and Real Red.

I first punched a circle with the 1-3/8" circle punch, then centred that and used the 1-3/4" circle punch.  One slit in each ring allowed me to link them up.

I used this Wikipedia photo as reference:

Stair Step Card

Stair-step-card

This version of a stair step card uses the wonderful Sending Love specialty designer series paper.  I love how one side of each of the sheets features a glittery element.  I used the stamp set Love You Much since we're close to Valentine's Day.

If you want more detailed instructions on how to make a stair step card, it's my new subscriber tutorial bonus, so be sure to sign up for my email newsletters if you haven't already, and it will show up in your inbox by the next day!

In the meantime, I'm off to prepare for my Stampers & Scrappers Club get together tonight.  If you're interested in participating in a club, please contact me for more information.

A Sweet Treat for Valentine’s Day

Sweet-treat-valentineI had fun (as always) on CH Morning Live yesterday.  Time always seems to fly so I'm not sure if you were able to catch much of a glimpse of this card on air.  I used the Heart Shaped Sweet Treat Cups and some Conversation Heart candy (I think that's what they're called…).  The Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay colours are a bright combination for this fun card.  The stamped image is from the Sweetheart Stamp set.  I love how the images fit the heart shaped sweet treat cups…and how the cups fit perfectly into the opening created by the full heart punch.  It's a no-brainer (perfect for me!! LOL).  The hearts along the bottom were created with the new small heart punch.

I had a lot of creations that probably didn't get viewed on air, so I'll be posting pictures of them here at yamstamps.com.  I'm hoping to have the video of the appearance posted here in the next day or so as well, so be sure to come back to check it out.  Until then, thanks for stopping by.

Scrapbook in a Box

Welcome!  If I've timed this right, this post should go up just before I'm on the air on CH Morning Live.  If you're new, please sign up for my newsletter (box at the top left).  You'll be included in the monthly draw, and your new subscriber card tutorial bonus should be in your email inbox by tomorrow.

In the meantime…here's a look at Wednesday's class project – the Scrapbook in a Box.  This is a "step up" from my previous Page in a Box – great if you have lots of family members or lots of photos!

Outside-sb-box

Closed – I had fun with the Scallop Trim Border & Corner Punches!

Inside-sb-box

Open – there are 3 pages on each side for a total of 12 photos or stamped images.  The sentiment in the centre is from the Well Scripted set in the Occasions Mini Catalogue.

Contact me if you'd like to grab a seat at Wednesday's class.  If you can't make it to Burlington on Wednesday, consider getting a group of friends together and I'll come to you!!

Love You Bear-y Much

Bab-valentineI was introduced to Build-a-Bear when I was in the US a number of years ago (my first Stampin' Up convention in Las Vegas) – and now they're here in Canada too!  I love Stampin' Up's Build-a-Bear Workshop Collection, and there's more reason to love these great dies, stamps and papers…  Until April 30th, with every $25 purchase from this collection, you'll receive a coupon for $5 off at the Build-a-Bear workshop store near you!  The collection is featured on p 38-40 of the Occasions Mini Catalogue.  You can contact me for more information, or if you're ready to place your order, you can order online here.  Don't forget with your $65 merchandise order, you will also get a Sale-a-Bration product of your choice for FREE!

This card was made using the Stampin' Up! Bear Bigz die.  I used the Pawsitively Prints Designer Series paper with the Beary Essentials die to create the clothes, and then I used the new Small Heart punch for the heart he's holding.

I'll be taking this sample with me when I appear on TV on Monday (CH Morning Live) – and I'll be getting up slightly earlier – my time slot is now scheduled for 8:10 am!!  In the meantime, I'll be back in my stamping room finishing up my other show & tell projects!!

Clear Mount Stamps Video

If you're wondering how Stampin' Up!'s clear mount stamps work, I've created a video that you can watch HERE.  It's on my youtube channel (Yamstamps, natch!) and there was a link in my recent newsletter.  Enjoy!!  Please contact me if you have any questions about any of Stampin' Up!'s products.

Warning…..

It seems like there's cautionary statements everywhere these days…..

SU-Box

LOL!  These words of warning on currently found on Stampin' Up!'s shipping boxes.  During Sale-a-Bration these words are especially true – nothing like FREE product to make the heart race a bit!!

My latest monthly email newsletter just went out – did you receive your copy?  Be sure to sign up so you don't miss out – on my blog, the sign up box is at the top left of the screen.  Starting this month, I will be holding a monthly draw and one lucky new email registrant will win!  If you are getting this blog update by email, click here to register for my email newsletters.  Please note that while I welcome all visitors to sign up, sales and specials will be valid for Canadian residents only.

Wishing you the Best!

Best-wishes-monochromatic

I always like cards that are not too fussy, so this one fit the bill for me.  I used the Vintage Labels Sale-a-Bration stamp set (free with $65 merchandise order).  On the bottom of this long card I used the single stamp Fine Flourish from the Occasions mini catalogue.  I stamped in Whisper White craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder to give a subtle dimension to the card.

I always love to add the flowers and half pearls from the Pretties kit – I think they're my favourite embellishments!  The bottom of the white cardstock is punched with the new Pinking Hearts border punch.  I love how easy it is to use the new style punches!

Closeup

Here's a close up of the bottom of the card – hopefully you get a better view of the embossed portion.

I've been busy preparing for my next TV appearance – I've been invited back to CH Morning Live this Monday, February 8th.  I'm going to be sharing some Valentine's Day ideas.  Please tune in to see me!  I'm scheduled for approximately 8:20 am.

Friends card

Brighter-friends This card features one of my favourite new sets from Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Mini Catalogue!  Vintage Vogue is a set of 8 stamps and there's a coordinating jumbo wheel called Very Vintage.  I used the wheel along the bottom of the cardfront, and the stamp image on top.  Shocking, but I actually cut out the "F" so I could pop it up and create some more dimension on the card.  I say "shocking" because those who have attended my classes or clubs know that I tend not to do any "fussy cutting".  I did bend that rule in this case (and it wasn't all _that_ fussy in the end LOL) – because this card warranted the effort!!

I do have openings in my upcoming classes if you're interested in a night out.  Please check my event page and contact me to register!  Don't forget – if you're unable to attend one of my classes on the scheduled evening, get a group of friends together and we can have a "private" class just for you on another date!!
