My son needed a birthday card for a friend, so I created this fun double slider.
I used Pink Passion cardstock for the base, with Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper for accent. I coloured one of the flowers from the Pretties kit with my Pink Passion stampin' write marker to add a bit more "pop" to the card.
The images are from Party Hearty, stamped in Rich Razzleberry onto Whisper White.
This is what the card looks like when it's open.
This was fun to create and I hope the party girl had fun opening it as well!!
It's my birthday, but the gift is for you! I'm paying the shipping charges on all orders placed with me until Saturday March 27th at midnight (eastern time)!! Email me at linda@yamstamps.com with your name, phone number and address and the items you'd like to order. I will get back to you with your exact charges and get your payment information. It's that easy!
Don't forget your free Sale-a-Bration item with every $65 in merchandise that you order…makes this deal even sweeter!
Please help me celebrate! (The fine print – only applicable within Canada, customer pays all applicable taxes).
Stampin' Up! just announced that the opportunity to purchase the Digital + Starter kit has been extended until the end of June 2010! This is a great way to start off your Stampin' Up! business. You receive:
The Digital Starter Kit costs $239 regularly, but during Sale-a-Bration, it's 15% off, PLUS you receive an additional stamp set of your choice (valued at up to $63.99) – so that's $199 to start your own business….a nice way to kick off a new venture, don't you think?
If you'd like to go the more "traditional" paper crafting route, the standard starter kit is also available at 15% off with an additional stamp set of your choice…regularly $269, it's $225 during Sale-a-Bration.
The standard starter kit includes:
optional Stampin’ Memories Add-On ($69, must be ordered at time of purchase of Standard Starter Kit)
If you are interested in starting your own Stampin' Up! business, remember that the Sale-a-Bration offers will expire at the end of MARCH – so contact me for more information or to get the password for the online registration! More information can also be found HERE (click on START YOUR OWN BUSINESS).
…until the end of this year's Sale-a-Bration… SAB ends at the end of March. We had a full extra month (well, minus one hour!!) for SAB this year – how did you like that? If you're like me, you've probably left things to the end of the time frame!! You can still place orders online HERE (click on ORDER NOW), or you can contact me by email. With your $65 merchandise order (before shipping/taxes) you can select a Sale-a-Bration product for free. Don't forget that besides the fun goodies in the SAB catalogue, there is a list of items from the large Idea Book & Catalogue that you may select.
This fun sample was featured on the demonstrator side of the Stampin' Up! website (there's a whoooole side of information & inspiration there for us!) – I love the idea of using different sized punch outs to create some extra texture on the cardfront. This card features the Happy Moments set – see how the packages are actually paper pieced? You stamp your image on different cardstocks or designer series paper, then cut out the images and reassemble them.
I hope that you're enjoying your March Break (for those of you to whom it applies…) – and maybe getting some craft time in for yourself?!
Often I'm asked "How did you get the idea for this card design?" I enjoy coming up with designs for cards on my own, but I also use ideas from other card makers. I thought I'd share with you a card evolution.
Here is my card:
This uses this Vintage Vogue stamp set. I used Soft Suede as the base colour. Though my photo is a little off I think (in terms of colour); the neutral portion of the card is actually Whisper White…hmmm..doesn't look very white here, does it?! White embossing powder as well.
OK – here's Sue Farrant's card that inspired me:
She used the same stamp set, but used Chocolate Chip as her base, and Vanilla as her embossing powder.
And here is the card that inspired Sue! By Shannon West.
Kind of neat to see the evolution, eh?
So there you have it – you don't always have to come up with everything on your own – take elements from another card that you like, and make it your own!!
This card features a couple of single stamps available through Stampin' Up! – Fine Flourish and Butterfly Accent. As my title indicates…I used the kissing technique. In this case, I inked the Fine Flourish stamp with Brocade Blue craft ink, then used that stamp as an "ink pad" for the Butterfly Accent stamp (a solid butterfly image). I "kissed" the rubber surfaces together, then stamped the butterfly onto Whisper White cardstock & embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.
I used a piece of the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper along the bottom of the card. Love how this paper has a glittery pattern on one side of the double sided paper. I used a few of the butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit that I ran through my Big Shot with some Brocade Blue cardstock.
All the stamps & the die are available in Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Mini catalogue, which runs for another month, as does Sale-a-Bration – don't forget that with your $65 merchandise order, you can receive your choice of Sale-a-Bration product for free! Host a workshop or sign up as a demonstrator and earn more free product as well – contact me for details before time runs out!!
Waterfall cards are fun and actually pretty easy to make, once you've got the hang of them. Not sure about that? Hopefully I can help – my Cards that will Move You class is on Wednesday, March 3rd at 7pm here in Burlington, and (among other things) we'll be making a Waterfall Card!
This card features the I {Heart} Hearts set and the other reason I'm featuring this card on yamstamps.com today. Stampin' Up! is donating $2 towards Red Cross' Haiti Relief for each I {Heart} Hearts stamp set sold until February 28th.
If you're interested in attending the Cards class, please contact me to register. Cost is $15 and includes all supplies required to complete the 4 moving cards we'll create (plus the envelopes to put them in!).
If you're interested in helping with Haitian Relief as well as your own creativity, contact me to place an order for I {Heart} Hearts, or click here to place your order online.
I {Heart} Hearts – clear mount stamps Item 118571 $24.95 (recommended block size – block D)
I {Heart} Hearts – wood mount stamps Item 117010 $35.95
Don't think that I've shared this photo yet…these are some flower lollies that I made for my TV appearance on CH Morning Live. I used the Flower Folds Bigz XL Die for the Big Shot to create the flowers, then punched a hole in the centre of them with my Crop-a-Dile and slid the stick of the candy through it. Quick and easy – so right up my alley!! LOL. I showed them as an example of something you could give someone on Valentine's Day, but these would also make great party or shower favours / decorations!
I'm trying to focus on preparing for upcoming classes, but keep getting distracted by the TV. Honestly, I don't think I've watched this much TV in ages!! I get all nervous and anxious for the Olympic competitors during their races – thankfully crafting is a great way for me to relax, so look for some more creations in the next while on the yamstamps blog here!
If you are interested in trying out Stampers & Scrappers club, I have openings for a short term commitment club – 4 get togethers only, starting March through June.
