Up, Up and Away!

Hot-air-balloonsObviously these 3D images caught my eye because I have another example from Stampin' Up!'s Convention. These fun hot air balloons are such cute decorations!  Again, an easy way to create a 3D image – stamp or print (if you're digital crafting with My Digital Studio 2), cut out the images, fold in half and adhere together – voila!

In the meantime, I'm getting ready for my upcoming classes – will I see you at one soon?! Lots of inspiration from Stampin' Up!'s convention PLUS the recent Regional Training event in Hamilton – good thing I tidied up my craft area today – since it will be messy by tomorrow after I start creating…there's a reason that I posted a pic of my clean stamping table on Instagram a while back – because it's such a rare sighting!!!

OK off to play in my craft area for a while – thanks for stopping by!

It’s getting to that time of year….

Appleback to school time! Well, soon, at least. Too soon for my son, at any rate! I always enjoyed going back to school, loved the new school supplies, especially the paper! Some things don't change I guess – still love new paper…except now I can get my papers all coordinated 🙂

I just realized that I've got a whole WHACK of photos from convention that I haven't really shared here, so I'm going to work on correcting that.  These were some really cute 3D apples that were on a display board showcasing different products. Wouldn't these be cute as a teacher gift or inside a card to create a pop out card? OK, the teachers out there I'm sure are groaning "Not another apple gift" – but really, this one is CUTE!

A reminder that while you're out and about doing back to school shopping or just trying to avoid the crowds that are…it's almost the end of August. If you were a happy shopper at my Rubber Garage Sale during my New Catalogue Open House, you have a gift certificate to spend – and only 6 more days in which to do so.  Please contact me to place your order so you don't miss out!

Hamilton Regional Stampin’ Up! Training

I love attending Stampin' Up! events – there's so much energy and enthusiasm that it's contagious! The fact that you get a lot of creative and business inspiration is just a plus. One of my favourite things is seeing my demonstrator friends from all over…or even from the same city. The joke is that half the time I have to travel to the US to see some local demonstrator friends!

Anyway, this time was closer to home – just down the road in Hamilton! I was most excited to be able to hang out with Leanne, one of my demonstrator team members who doesn't live very close to me. While we've been in a lot of contact both by phone and on the computer, this was actually the first time we got to meet in person!!

With-Shelli-for-blog

Here we are with Shelli Gardner, co-founder and CEO of Stampin' Up! I love that she tries to attend as many of these regional events as she can.  One of these days, I'm going to make a collage of all the photos I have had taken with her over the 10 years I've been a demonstrator, and watch how our hairstyles change LOL.

This is a photo that was on my iphone (I actually tweeted it during the day) – me, Shelli and Dale Hampshire, Manager of Stampin' Up! Canada.

Tag

and because I know you don't just tune in for photos of me…. LOL here's a photo of the beautiful tag created by one of the Stampin' Up! artists that Shelli shared with us. Isn't it gorgeous?!

Thanks for stopping by. Don't forget that there's only 10 days left for the August specials – 1)  31% off 31 digital items! 2) Get a Spooktacular Hallowe'en Printers Tray Project valued at $75 for FREE when you purchase the starter kit in August!  Please contact me if you have any questions.

More from Stampin’ Up!’s Convention – and an Upcoming Special!

So, internet connection was a bit spotty at times and my posts were postponed LOL.  Here’s a few shots from around & about Stampin’ Up!’s Convention.

Distribution-centre

This is the distribution area of Stampin’ Up! (they were finishing lunch break when we were in this area). Cool to see how automated this system is – boxes are tagged and move in & out of the picking area on a conveyor belt, waiting to be filled with items and then sent on to us!

With-sign

The theme for convention this year was “I Am” – loved the theme and the song. I posted the video on my facebook page here. The end of the video is the live performance portion at the opening session of convention.

2012 marks 10 years of Stampin’ Up! Canada and this was celebrated by having all the Canadian demonstrators march across the stage. Nice to be recognized that way by the company and other demonstrators 🙂 There was a special march for those of us who were demonstrators in the first year as well.

Printers-tray

Here’s the upcoming special which is so fun! If you sign up as a demonstrator in August, you and your upline will both get this cute printer’s tray project – just add ink! I think I might have a special team get together in September to assemble these! More information on being a demonstrator in my group can be found here. Our “Eh” Team group has demonstrators across Canada and we’d love to have you join us – I hope to have demonstrators from each province and territory as part of our group.

I am enjoying being home again, and busy preparing for my upcoming weekend of events – “Eh” Team get together on Saturday, first Christmas Stamp a Stack on Sunday! I hope to see you soon at one of my events. If the dates don’t work for you – let me know and we can get a private class together for you and your friends. Keep your eyes on www.yamstamps.com for more news and events.

Stampin’ Up! Convention 2012….the fun has begun!

and technically, it hasn't officially even started! My friend Sue & I arrived yesterday and went for dinner with other demonstrator friends that we haven't seen since January (at Stampin' Up!'s Leadership conference). Great fun catching up with them!!

With-SU-sign

Sue & I with the sign at the entrance to Stampin' Up!'s home office.

Distribution-centre

We took a bus ride to tour Stampin' Up! headquarters – viewed different areas of the home office including the large distribution centre. It was fascinating to see how automated the line is – boxes will roll along the conveyor belt and stop off at the correct spot for the items to be picked off the shelf and placed inside. Once the order is fully completed, the box is weighed to make sure everything is inside! Neat to see.

Purses

Here's a cute set of the purses from the Petite Purse Bigz die. Love how they made the little flowers out of circle punches – how cute and easy is that??!! Don't be surprised if you see them show up on a project at one of my future classes LOL!!

I'll be posting more ideas and inspiration from Convention over the next while. I will be sharing them in person with my demonstrator team members at our get together on July 28th – if you'd like to join us, please contact me for more information!

Photo Bouquet Quick Instructions

Flower-bouquetJust to hit the highlights for you, in case you'd like to create one for your mom this weekend!

You will need:

a styrofoam ball or floral foam ball available at craft stores

brads – I used Stampin' Up! silver mini brads plus you can use the clear rhinestone brads for the larger flowers. These will anchor the flowers in place plus will be safe for little hands to use (and occasionally clumsy larger hands which is where I fit in LOL)

Cardstock – for my example, I used Bashful Blue, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and So Saffron

Punches, dies or cutting tools – I used my Big Shot and the Flower Folds Bigz XL Die for the larger flowers, and my 5 Petal Flower Punch for the smaller flowers. You could also free hand cut flower shapes. You will want a circle punch for the photo centres.

Designer Series Paper – to cover the container

Container- to rest your ball on – I used a clean can that I had opened with my safety can opener (leaves no sharp edges)

Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive or other liquid/white glue – helps to anchor the larger flowers in place

SNAIL or Sticky Strip – to adhere photos to your flowers and DSP to the container

Photos of loved ones or loved places, stamps with sentiments – I used stamps from the set Family Reunion and Bashful Blue Classic Ink Pad

HOW TO:
1) Punch & die cut your flowers

2) Start with the smaller flowers (learn by my mistakes – when I made mine, I was so keen to do the photo flowers I did them first, then had to manouever to get the smaller ones in place to cover the ball). Randomly place onto the styrofoam ball, using brads to pierce the centre of the flower & into the ball

3) Add larger flowers – you may wish to put some adhesive on the back of the flowers and then pierce them with a longer brad and into the styrofoam ball

4) Punch your photos using a circle punch

5) Adhere your photos to the centre of a flower on the ball, covering the brad OR stamp sentiments, use circle punch to punch out and then adhere to centre of flower. I sometimes matted a photo onto a smaller flower and then onto the flower on the ball.

6) Wrap your container with Designer Series Paper and adhere in place – set ball on top and you are done!

It's a really easy and fun project. Please feel free to leave a comment below (please note I've had to moderate all comments – too much spam coming through – so it may take a while to see your comment) or email me.  If you create one, I'd love to see how yours turns out!!
