Check it Out…

I was asked to create some projects using the Flower Patch set and Flower Fair Framelits Dies for the Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine Blog – what an honour (and what pressure! LOL). I did manage to come up with a few things… as did a fellow very creative demonstrator – so check it out!  I have some other projects that I can share with you next week, so please come back to YamStamps to see them.

In the meantime…here’s a card based on the design of one of the published cards…flowers-cardusing the Mixed Bunch stamp set and coordinating punch. Fun and easy – and you know I’m all over that concept. I love the bright colours!

Thank You! (and a day to celebrate)

work-of-art-cardI love how easy it is to look artistic with the brush stroke images in Stampin’ Up!’s Work of Art stamp set. This Thank You card came together quickly and uses some of the new 2014-2016 In Colours. While I do like Stampin’ Up!’s Clear Mount and love the Photopolymer Stamps, there’s something about a wood mount stamp that I still tend to gravitate towards. Maybe it’s the way I create (messily…LOL) or the fact that I’m a bit of a visual person (I need to see things to figure out how I can use them), but the majority of my stamps are still wood mount. That being said, the Work of Art stamp set is like a tricky puzzle to fit back into the case!!!!! So for your viewing reference, I direct you to my Instagram account, where I’ve posted an image of the set in the case. I like to say it’s for YOUR benefit, but really, it’s all about me. I knew that once I got it in there, I would have to take a photo so I would remember.

Happy Fourth of July to my American family and friends! I love how the first week of July is preoccupied by patriotic holidays here in North America, and of course, in our household, today is more fondly known as my son’s birthday – so HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my _favourite_ son. (I only have one, but I think that’s beside the point). som-watermarkedThis time last year was spent marching in two different parades in the US as part of the Burlington Teen Tour Band – this year, it’s a day of relaxation. Hope you have a good day!!

Seize the Cake!

seize-the-cake-cardCarpe Cake! (sorry to all those Latin scholars out there, because I’m pretty sure that’s not quite correct…). Anyway – a fun card using a combination of sets. The cake image is from Sketched Birthday, and while there are some good sentiments in that set, I was taken by the “Seize the Cake”from the Something to Say set and thought the two went together quite well.  The Designer Series Paper Lullaby forms the background. I love that the DSP could be used for baby pages or projects, but doesn’t tie you to that theme. Of course, the easiest way to figure out a colour scheme for a project is to take it from the DSP used – so in this case, there’s some Coastal Cabana cardstock and thick Baker’s twine, and I used a blender pen to colour the image with Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey and Baked Brown Sugar. A fun birthday card for a guy or a girl 🙂

If you need to build up your card stash, don’t forget that I have monthly card classes and a monthly Stampers Club where you get to use all sorts of Stampin’ Up! product and techniques to create 4 different cards. Check out my Events page or contact me for more details!

Embossed Foil Card

embossed-foil-cardI think this could be a great Father’s Day card! The Silver Foil Cardstock was embossed with the Argyle Embossing Folder – I think it kind of looks like the detailing on some of the running boards on trucks. (I’m sure there’s probably a “proper” name for that, but I am obviously not so savvy). Anyway – between that and the colours (Smoky Slate and Basic Black) – this card has that masculine feel to it. The main image is from Chalk Talk, and the Tag Topper Scalloped Punch adds a fun detail as well.

I’ll keep this short but sweet, since I’m preparing to head out to the Holy Rosary School Fun Fair later today here in Burlington – if you can stop by, come say “hi” at my table – check out the kits and cards I’ll have for sale, and try your hand at an easy project.  Once I’m done there, I’ll be preparing for Saturday’s New Catalogue Open House and Rubber Garage Sale! Clearing out my retired crafting supplies to make room for the new (and to decrease the number of boxes I’ll be carting once I move in the very near future!). RSVP to make sure I have a copy of the catalogue set aside for you, and to get directions! See you soon!!

Masculine Birthday Card

bday-cardHere’s a sample of a masculine birthday card. I always make a point to include one masculine card in almost every class because often my customers will say that’s where they get stumped or find they don’t have a suitable stash. Epic Day Designer Series Paper (get it before it disappears forever) adds colour and pattern to this card that also uses the Chevron border punch and Blue Ribbon set.  Like the points on the DSP and ribbon? Check out this past Tuesday Tip video on how to get flawless notched ends in your ribbon or DSP.  You can always subscribe to the YamStamps Youtube channel so you won’t miss out on future videos.  Happy Stamping!

Quick and Easy Birthday Card

square-bdayI like making square cards – they’re very symmetrical and a bit more unusual, though no more difficult to create.

This card is 4.25″ x 4.25″ – so you cut your cardstock at 4.25″ x 8.5″ to create the card base. Then to create the rest of this easy card, the Designer Series Paper (Watercolour Wonder) is cut into 1.5″ squares and mounted onto a 3.5″ Tangerine Tango square. The Happy Birthday sentiment from the Label Love set was punched out with the Artisan Label punch (easy when your stamps & punches coordinate – these ones are also available in a bundle!) and then stuck onto the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Quick and easy – my kind of card!
