Come to (Online) Class!

I don’t know about you, but I miss getting together and being creative. Thankfully, I get a “fix” through my Stampers Club. We’re currently meeting online, and while it’s not quite the same as getting together in person, it’s truly fun to see each other and catch up, and the bonus is that we get to make some cards at the same time! I’m going to be offering a regular Online Class now – read on to find out more.

The screenshot is from one of our last Club sessions – after everyone arrives and says hello, I switch to an overhead view so people can see how the cards are constructed. Some choose to make them along with me, and others choose to partially make them or just watch, and then go back to watch the recording later. The advantage of working with the recording is that you can stop/rewind/fastforward and work at your own speed.

Stampers Club has a 6 month commitment (you can find out more details here or message me with questions), and I know not everyone is ready for that serious a relationship haha! So – I’m going to offer an online class on a regular basis now. I’ve had classes by mail as an option, but I think that for those who like the interaction, and like to see how things are put together, this is a great alternative.

Ornamental Die Cut Card

I hope that you had a good Christmas! I am so grateful that I am able to spend time with my son and my mother (yay for being under the same roof!). I was actually on call for Christmas Day and Boxing Day but thankfully it was quiet (health care professionals will understand why I didn’t actually say that word while I was still on call though…no need to jinx it LOL). I’m now enjoying some days off and obviously needed it since I feel like I’m a bit “checked out” at present. HOWEVER. I will endeavour to post here more in the next while. Today’s share is an ornamental die cut card that you can create with the supplies that you have in your craft room.

Ornamental Die Cut Card
Ornamental Die Cut Card

I combined a couple of die cuts to create the focal image on this card. I used the Envelopes Dies, which are retiring from the August-December Mini Catalogue and are on sale as part of the Year End Closeout. after die cutting the centre design (don’t you love it?!) I then die cut again with the Stitched Nested Labels die that fit around the graphic. Once I had that focal piece, I then just added it on top of a portion of Designer Series Paper backed with coordinating cardstock. We made this card as part of December Stampers Club, so each member received a packet with precut card supplies – so thankfully the Whisper White and Snowflake Splendour Designer Series Paper selling out did not affect our crafting efforts (since I had the supplies ahead of time – phew). Yes, unfortunately at this time, they’re sold out, so if you’re wanting to recreate this card and don’t have those exact supplies on hand, use a different tone of cardstock and different Designer Series Paper – it’s not too difficult to swap out as you need, really!

If you are looking for a way to keep busy and creative in 2021, please consider joining us in Stampers Club! Our next session takes place on January 18th. If you’re in Canada and can join us online, we’d love to have you! One of the things that club members have mentioned lately about our online sessions – is that they join us live for the companionship and to see how to do things/ask questions – but often will make their cards later on. I record our online session and then post it in our membership site, where current club members can access the video and follow along while they make their cards using their kit supplies, and can pause the video and rewatch portions as needed. Please contact me to join us, or if you have questions/want more information. Our club kits include die cuts and precut materials, and members can add sentiment stamps or additional accents with whatever supplies they have on hand. This ornamental die cut card is an example of the projects that we are making – something with interest but that isn’t totally dependent on stamped images, since each member has a different stash of crafting supplies in their own home.

So in this blurry time between Christmas and New Year (I am pretty sure that I’m not the only who feels that way), I hope that you are able to find some time to recharge your batteries and maybe even get some crafting done. Thank you for stopping by the site and being part of the YamStamps community!

Starry Fun Fold Card

Sharing this starry fun fold card….though I’m never truly sure what is a fun fold and what is just a neat design?? Technically this card doesn’t have extra folds, though it does have extra cuts?! I shared a quick red white and blue (and gold) version on the YamStamps Instagram and Facebook accounts yesterday in honour of the Fourth of July, but here’s a more neutral toned version for other special events.

starry fun fold card

By cutting out a portion of the front of the card, and then using the die cut star to reattach it and hold it in place, it makes an otherwise straightforward layout a little more interesting! I cut the Whisper White Cardstock to 4.25″ x 11″, then cut the front flap at 2″ and cut another 2″ strip from the portion I cut off. Add a bit of decorative paper – in this case the 2020-2022 In Colour Designer Series Paper in Just Jade, and then added a Stitched Star die cut in Gold Foil.

If you’d like to make a version of this card, I’m offering a Card Class to Go – and this is one of the designs. Due to COVID19 precautions, I’m still not scheduling any in person Monthly Card Classes – so this is what I’m trying. For the regular class fee of $20, you’ll get precut supplies to create 4 different cards. You supply the adhesive (if you need some, you can purchase from me when you register for class and I’ll send it with your supplies). As well, if it’s in the design of the card, I’ll include punch outs or die cuts that you can add a sentiment or image to with your own stamps and inks (or handwriting). This is due to Stampin’ Up! regulations – I can’t include pre-stamped images or sentiments in a class kit. You can pick up your kit if you’re local to Burlington Ontario, or I can mail it anywhere within Canada. You’ll get the supplies plus a sheet with photos of the completed projects and step by step instructions.

CARD CLASS TO GO

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN YOUR CLASS FEE:
– precut supplies to create four different cards including card bases, all design elements and envelopes
– Instruction sheet with colour photo and step by step instructions for each project
– regular postage within Canada/porch pickup in Burlington ON
– customer service – I’m available to answer your questions or provide extra guidance if needed!

YOU SUPPLY:
– adhesive(s) of your choice (some options available for purchase at time of class registration)
– any stamps/inks of your choice to customize your cards as you wish

Interested? I have a limited number of kits available – you can email me to purchase one! Payment by etransfer preferred, but CC options available.

Contact me if you have any questions – or if you’re ready to get the supplies to make your own starry fun fold card!
