Birthday Pop Up Card

LY--5LY--4

How fun is this birthday card? So impressive….but so EASY! This is made using Stampin’ Up!’s Party with Cake bundle. It’s available in wood mount or clear mount and includes the thinlits that create the pop up effect. Essentially you score your cardstock, align your thinlit die (easiest using the Magnetic Platform), run it through your Big Shot and then adhere it inside your card. Seriously. That’s how easy. This card is lovely and bright, using Pacific Point and Crushed Curry together. Add a bit of Cherry on Top Designer Washi Tape and you’ve got an eye popping card that’s good for either gender!

The Occasions catalogue is full of great bundles – stamps and coordinating punches, dies or Designer Series Paper – and when you get a bundle, you save money! Even better – until March 31st, you can earn free Sale-a-Bration items just by shopping! Check out the YamStamps online Stampin’ Up! Canada store, or contact me for more information!

It’s Your Birthday….

birthday-cake

Or even if it’s not…here’s a fun birthday card for some who is celebrating! This card features the Stampin’ Up! set Build a Birthday. This set is photopolymer, meaning that the material with which you stamp will be clear (or in my case, a little stained perhaps, but still see through-ish). I find this makes it a bit easier to line up the elements for the cake – each layer is a different stamp. In this case, all the layers were the same colour, but you could make it a multi-coloured cake if you wish! Chocolate Chip (I thought that was appropriate) and Tempting Turquoise are the colours, and yes, I re-inked my Tempting Turquoise ink pad after making this card….so the cards from the class were a bit more vivid. I have found the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits Dies to be so useful – I think I’ve used this label die on a card at each of my last few classes – in this case, it’s for the birthday wishes sentiment (love that script).

If you’ve signed up for my newsletter, you’ll notice that you are asked for your birth month. Starting in the new year, newsletter recipients will receive an extra mailing during their birthday month. Don’t worry if you didn’t enter your month at the time you signed up, I’ll have you covered as well…. If you haven’t yet signed up (you’ll still be in time for the remaining mailings for the 12 Weeks of Christmas as well) – use the form in the corner of the blog or click here.

Not That We’re Keeping Track or Anything…

umpteenth-birthdayThis expression makes me laugh, and I thought it was great for a fun birthday card. The sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up! set Oh My Goodies and when you have a monochromatic card, adding a hit of colour makes the one element really stand out. In this case, the new In Colour Cucumber Crush adds the pop. At the Monthly Card Classes and Stamp Clubs, there is always at least one card that is more masculine or “gender neutral” as my customers (as well as I) always have a need for those – and tend to be the most scan in my stash of cards.

If you are looking to build up your stash of cards, there’s a bunch of options open to you! Monthly Card Classes, Stampers Club and upcoming Christmas Card and Tin of Card Classes! I will have the schedule finalized shortly and will post it – and it will be for sure in the July YamStamps Monthly Paper Crafting Newsletter for subscribers. School is out, the schedule is slowing down (slightly) and I’ve got big plans to be crafty!!

Celebrating a Birthday?

birthday-balloons-cardHere’s something that is NOT retiring – the Celebrate Today Bundle – stamp set and framelits…though it will only be available while the Occasions Catalogue is still in effect (until June 2nd). I love how coordinating stamps and framelits make it so easy to do something a little different with your paper crafting. In this case, a quick cut of the centre balloon and you can pop it up to add some dimension! We’re making a version of this card when I visit my friends at a local retirement home to paper craft together – because crafting is ageless!

Please note that many of the In Colour 2013-2015 items are already sold out (all the reinkers, the assorted package of cardstock). The stamps on the retired list will continue to be produced until May 26th, but again, tools, accessories and embellishments on the retired list are while supplies last only.  If you need assistance placing your order, or have questions, please feel free to contact me. I am happy to place your order for you if you wish, but your best bet in terms of being sure to get the items you need is to place your order online yourself HERE. Please use the hostess code BMZ2HJYS if your order is less than $200. If you place an online order with me from now until the end of May, you will receive a free pdf tutorial with pictures and instructions to create 4 different cards via email (provided you share your contact information with me during the ordering process!). In the meantime – happy shopping!

Time Flies…

speech-bubble-age-cardAnd before you know it, it’s Monday again…and you haven’t shared anything fun on your blog recently because you’re busy digging through boxes and still trying to sort and organize.  I have moved across the country before, and I must say that I think I was FAR more efficient then! There’s something about being able to say to yourself “Do I want to pay $xxx to move this across Canada?” and being able to say “NO!!” that helps to lighten the load. Moving up the street, well that’s another story entirely. I have boxes of “stuff” that I wasn’t sure what to do with before…and they have migrated with me. The smart thing to do, I think, would be to just keep the boxes sealed, close my eyes and send them to the curb…but that hasn’t happened so far. In the meantime, the odyssey continues.

Also in the meantime, here’s another card to share with you! One of the things I love about Stampin’ Up! products is the coordination. As you may be able to tell by my little story above, I don’t like to think too hard or for too long LOL – so when you have things that naturally go together, it’s my kind of crafting project. In this case, the stamps and framelits go together…and then I realized that there were numbers all over this particular sheet of Designer Series Paper, et voila! A card is born. If you’re like some people I know…you may wish to skip the distressing and tearing, and have a neater/cleaner card. Personally I think the crumpled look is perfect for the sentiment on this birthday card!!

So off I go now, to dig into more boxes and pull out some holiday items to prep for my upcoming classes and the Christmas Stamp a Stack. Hope that I get to see you soon! If you’re coming to the Stamp a Stack, my goal is to have the downstairs area (well at least where the class is being held) as a box-free zone. Wish me luck!!
