Decorated Journal

Finished-journal-watermarkSo, I'm going to let you in on a little secret…I try really hard to be organized, but it can be really challenging for me.  Especially in my stamp room.

I was coming up with ideas and samples for my May email newsletter (click here to sign up) and I thought I'd create a decorated journal.  I love having these books around to write things down – thoughts, memories, "to do" lists…you name it.  Anyway, I grabbed supplies that caught my eye….one of which was the designer series paper used on the front of this journal.  Created my main image using the Just Believe stamp set; added the Victoria 5/8" crochet trim and a vintage brad and added it to the front of the journal.  Love it.

When I went to catalogue all the supplies I used on the journal…I discovered that the Designer Series Paper I used isn't in the current catalogue! DOH. If you're wondering, Woodland Walk or the digital download of Urban Garden have similar colours and themes though.  I think I should spend some of this long weekend putting away retired items….I'll add them to the pile of things for my annual "Rubber Garage Sale"!!

Masculine Card

Masculine-card Sharing one of my ongoing attempts to create some "masculine" cards!  This one features a non-white main image area. I used the Extreme Elements set to create a collage – type background, and then stamped the word of my choice on top.

I have a backlog of samples to share here in the next while, so please keep checking in here at www.yamstamps.com!

No Fooling….April’s Special!

SIB_b1Promotion_LP_NA

Sad that Sale-a-Bration is over?  (Me too!) Have no fear, though, Stampin' Up! has some promotions to make April special as well.

First up – a sneak peek!  During the month of April, you can earn the Four Frames stamp set and Paisley Petals designer series paper available in the upcoming Idea Book & Catalogue.  You may purchase these items with any $25 merchandise order, or if you host a workshop with sales of $460 or more, you'll earn them for free!  Click here to see the items and for more information.

In my online store, you'll find the Clearance Rack has a few new items – there's three different grab bags available!  These bags contain retired Stampin' Up! product up to four times the value of the bag price – and are only available while supplies last…so don't wait too long!

Spring has sprung and it's a great time to get creative – contact me to book your workshop or reserve your spot in one of my upcoming classes!

Spring??!!!

Oh my goodness, this is NOT what I had in mind for the beginning of spring….

Somewhere, a very evil groundhog is laughing….

Anyway, thought I'd pop up and share this spring-like card….at least there are paper flowers to be had.

Colour is sponged onto the paper daisies which are adhered to a piece of Certainly Celery cardstock, then run through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

My petals are a little "free" as I only adhered the centre of the flower.  Club members who adhered their flowers a little more securely (i.e. made the effort to get a bit of glue stick on the petals as well LOL) had a bit more of an "engrained" effect.

I will be sharing a few more cards and flowers in the next little while, in hope that Mother Nature gets the hint!  I think Ontario's had enough of winter for now, thank you very much….

Where does the time go?

Well tonight it will be going away – don't forget to spring forward! (I must admit, this is not my favourite time of year, I quite enjoy the falling back).

So…my excuse for not having a new post up in the last few days is that I was busy recovering!!

My running buddy Amber & I just completed the Chilly Half Marathon!  It was not too bad a run, if I say so myself, though the weather wasn't fantastic.  Snow had fallen overnight, and roads getting to the race start point were icy.  The race route itself wasn't too icy, but definitely slushy in parts – ick.  Thank goodness for my wool socks!!

Interestingly enough, while this was a "big race", mentally for me it wasn't as big a deal as it might have been, as I was treating this (more or less) like a training run for the "big race" – which to me is the Around the Bay race in a couple of weeks.  It's a little further, and a lot hillier near the end! It was helpful not to get "psyched out".  Not sure what I'll do to keep myself from freaking out for the Around the Bay, though!

In the meantime now, I'm preparing for an upcoming workshop with a bunch of Big & Little Sisters (should be fun!) and Stampers and Scrappers Club.  There's still time to get free product – host a workshop, place an order or sign up as a demonstrator – until the end of March, Sale-a-Bration is still in effect!  Contact me if you have any questions.

If you've purchased Stampin' Up! product through me, if the package is delivered to me and I bring it to you, you'll know that I sort out the product, bag it and then attach a tag with your name on it and "thanks".  My recent tags were inspired by the Simply Adorned charm I created the other day.

Imagine my delight when I opened one of the delivery boxes from Stampin' Up! to find this amongst all the new stamping goodies……

SU-tag
How fun is this?!  Thanks to Dennis at SU for the little tag included in the delivery box! It definitely brightened my day and brought a smile to my face!!

Change of Date….

You may remember a while back that I blogged about running and getting set to run the Around the Bay Race in March.  I'm still training towards that goal, and increasing the distance I run each week as I'm able to….and because I feel that I have sooooo much spare time, I've recently agreed to lead a Women's Learn To Run program at a local running store!!  (I know, what was I thinking…I'm sure my mother just kind of rolled her eyes at me when I asked if she'd be willing to help out with childcare while I did this – but luckily, once again, she agreed to support me on this one!).

This long story is to lead up to the fact that I need to change the date for the Easter Card Class, originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 23rd.  I'm now offering this class on Thursday, March 24th, and have contacted those who have already signed up.

My April & May card classes will also be shifted to Thursdays for those months, and if the timing works out, I may choose to leave them on those days.  (If you have an opinion on this, please let me know!!)  I've altered my classes and events pages already.  Thanks for your understanding, and hopefully you can try out one of my classes on a Thursday (great for those who couldn't make it on the Wednesdays?!).

As a reminder – here's the image & link for the Easter Class
