Wow – end of the summer already?!

I know it's not "official", but to me, Labour Day weekend is the end of the summer. (I'm sure that many teachers & students would agree with me?! LOL). I hope that you have been able to spend some time with friends and family relaxing this long weekend!

Just a quick post to let you know that I've adapted the schedule slightly for my Christmas Stamp a Stacks – I previously added in some weekday evening times, and I have moved the December Stamp a Stack from Sunday December 2nd to Saturday December 1st, still at 1pm. This is because the Burlington Santa Claus Parade will be happening on the Sunday at 2pm, and my son will be marching with the Junior Redcoat band so I'll be out there supporting him as well.

If you are looking for some activities for yourself or your crafty offspring, please consider attending one of my many card classes, or hosting a class yourself! I have a variety of times available – please contact me to set something up. All you have to do is provide the people and I'll do the rest! It's a fun girls night out/in :)

Lastly – my monthly email newsletter will be sent out tomorrow morning, so be sure to be subscribed to get the latest issue!

Free Ribbon!

B1_BacktoSpool_Sept0112_USCAHow cute is that image?! Stampin' Up! has a special for September – a free spool of 3/8" stitched satin ribbon for every $50 of merchandise that you order. Each roll of ribbon is valued at $12.50 but you will get it for free! Choose from one of the new In Colours – Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple or Summer Starfruit.

Hope that you are enjoying your long weekend (the last of the summer – how did that happen already?!). If you are looking to go back to school, consider attending a card class with me! My next monthly card class is THIS Wednesday, September 5th at 7pm here in Burlington. Cost is $20 and includes all supplies and envelopes – all you have to do is show up! Here's another photo so you can see the finished project and the supplies that you will receive. (the other photo is one that I took at convention of the displayed project)

Frameable art

Framed-artFun thing about creating scrapbook pages – you can frame them to display like the work of art that they are!  This is one of the displays from Stampin' Up!'s convention – I still have so many photos to go through…I loved the effect of the butterflies going through the frame – and so easy to recreate using the Beautiful Wings embosslit and your Big Shot.

The Lattice Bigz die creates a layer on the background of DSP; and hey – look, there's a notched edge on that strip of paper behind the photo? Wonder how they might have done that??!! ROFLOL.

If you're interested in getting a whole whack of pages done at once, consider attending my scrapbook in a day class, technically scrapbook in an afternoon…but you get the idea…more information and a sign up link can be found on the yamstamps class & events page, or you can contact me directly.

New feature – Tuesday Tips – notched ends video tutorial

Thought I'd add a "Tuesday Tip" – a quick tip for your paper crafting! The plan is for this to be a semi-regular feature here at www.yamstamps.com  Today's video tutorial is a variety of ways (okay, 4 to be exact) that you can create notched ends in your paper or ribbon to complete the look of your paper craft projects.  If you are reading this in a reader or via email, the video may not appear, so in that case, please go to the video on the yamstamps youtube channel or the yamstamps blog to see it.

The stamp sets used in the project were Blue Ribbon and Confetti for the birthday card, and the swap card used Bootiful Occasions (on my wish list…LOL).

If you have anything you'd like to see featured on Tuesday Tips, please leave a comment below (please note, they will not appear right away as comments must be approved as legitimate!) or send me an email.

Up, Up and Away!

Hot-air-balloonsObviously these 3D images caught my eye because I have another example from Stampin' Up!'s Convention. These fun hot air balloons are such cute decorations!  Again, an easy way to create a 3D image – stamp or print (if you're digital crafting with My Digital Studio 2), cut out the images, fold in half and adhere together – voila!

In the meantime, I'm getting ready for my upcoming classes – will I see you at one soon?! Lots of inspiration from Stampin' Up!'s convention PLUS the recent Regional Training event in Hamilton – good thing I tidied up my craft area today – since it will be messy by tomorrow after I start creating…there's a reason that I posted a pic of my clean stamping table on Instagram a while back – because it's such a rare sighting!!!

OK off to play in my craft area for a while – thanks for stopping by!

It’s getting to that time of year….

Appleback to school time! Well, soon, at least. Too soon for my son, at any rate! I always enjoyed going back to school, loved the new school supplies, especially the paper! Some things don't change I guess – still love new paper…except now I can get my papers all coordinated 🙂

I just realized that I've got a whole WHACK of photos from convention that I haven't really shared here, so I'm going to work on correcting that.  These were some really cute 3D apples that were on a display board showcasing different products. Wouldn't these be cute as a teacher gift or inside a card to create a pop out card? OK, the teachers out there I'm sure are groaning "Not another apple gift" – but really, this one is CUTE!

A reminder that while you're out and about doing back to school shopping or just trying to avoid the crowds that are…it's almost the end of August. If you were a happy shopper at my Rubber Garage Sale during my New Catalogue Open House, you have a gift certificate to spend – and only 6 more days in which to do so.  Please contact me to place your order so you don't miss out!

September Special!

I've decided it's time to offer a bit of a special for my hostesses. If you book a private class with me in September, the price for each attendee will be $15 ($5 off my regular $20 price). Hostesses are always free.

What's a private class? Well, it's a card making class for you and your friends (as many as you can fit into your space!). Just like my monthly card classes, we'll make 4 cards, complete with envelopes. I will cut everything and have packages ready for you to stamp, Big Shot as necessary and assemble, following instructions and using a sample as visual guide. Sound like fun? It is! Plus, the hostess can earn hostess dollars to spend on merchandise too!

If you are within a reasonable driving distance of Burlington, Ontario, you are within my area! Please contact me if you are interested in taking advantage of this offer, and we'll discuss details and come up with a mutually agreeable date.

Please note that availability may be limited, so first come first served! Monthly card classes or Christmas Card Stamp a Stacks are not included in this offer. Thanks.

Sale EXTENDED!

B1LP_31Days_Demo_July1312_NAWOOHOO! Stampin’ Up! just announced to demonstrators that the 31% off Digital Sale is being extended to September 14th! Realizing that this is a bit of a crazy time of year for everyone, this gives you a bit more time to take advantage of the digital deals.  These downloads work in My Digital Studio – Stampin’ Up!’s digital crafting program – aka MDS, MDS2 which was just released, and any program that can manage .png files (most of the photo editing software out there). I am just getting into MDS2 and working on some tutorial videos for you all.

In the meantime – you can shop the 31% digital sale

Or…you can check out this video that I did a while back for MDS – using a template that’s now available in MDS2+. This is how easy it is to create something using the great digital templates available!! Drag and drop 🙂 (if you are reading this in a reader or email, the embedded video may not appear – come to www.yamstamps.com to check it out!)
