Time Flies…

speech-bubble-age-cardAnd before you know it, it’s Monday again…and you haven’t shared anything fun on your blog recently because you’re busy digging through boxes and still trying to sort and organize.  I have moved across the country before, and I must say that I think I was FAR more efficient then! There’s something about being able to say to yourself “Do I want to pay $xxx to move this across Canada?” and being able to say “NO!!” that helps to lighten the load. Moving up the street, well that’s another story entirely. I have boxes of “stuff” that I wasn’t sure what to do with before…and they have migrated with me. The smart thing to do, I think, would be to just keep the boxes sealed, close my eyes and send them to the curb…but that hasn’t happened so far. In the meantime, the odyssey continues.

Also in the meantime, here’s another card to share with you! One of the things I love about Stampin’ Up! products is the coordination. As you may be able to tell by my little story above, I don’t like to think too hard or for too long LOL – so when you have things that naturally go together, it’s my kind of crafting project. In this case, the stamps and framelits go together…and then I realized that there were numbers all over this particular sheet of Designer Series Paper, et voila! A card is born. If you’re like some people I know…you may wish to skip the distressing and tearing, and have a neater/cleaner card. Personally I think the crumpled look is perfect for the sentiment on this birthday card!!

So off I go now, to dig into more boxes and pull out some holiday items to prep for my upcoming classes and the Christmas Stamp a Stack. Hope that I get to see you soon! If you’re coming to the Stamp a Stack, my goal is to have the downstairs area (well at least where the class is being held) as a box-free zone. Wish me luck!!

First Days…

First day for the sale, first day of school… Here are Stampin’ Up!’s Weekly Deals starting today, September 2, 2014.  I think that the digital download is rather appropriate for today…hope everyone got off to a smooth start!! I have to admire how well this week’s deals work together – the clay, molds and refills all combine to create fun accents. If you have these colour ink pads, the refills are a must – they will stretch your dollar by making your pads last longer – if your images are getting pale, simply reink the pad and renew the colour! (Plus, for In Colours – once they retire, if you have the reinkers, you’ll still be able to use that ink pad for a very very long time!). As always, if you need assistance placing your order, please feel free to contact me!

Blendabilities Class

house-card

This is a fun card we did at Stampers Club earlier this month. Arlene, who was host for the month (which means she got all the free goodies LOL), needed some new home / moving cards – so this one fit the bill. It uses the hostess set Life’s Adventure which has a nuymber of images in it to celebrate different events, and is fun to colour – so that’s what we did! We used the Blendablities on this card. This one wasn’t so much about shading and tricky stuff, it was just to experience the alcohol based markers and how fun they are to use. I love that you don’t get any streaks in the coloured images, and they do blend nicely (there’s a teeny bit of shading going on, but again, nothing too dramatic). I have Copic markers as well (I’ve done a certification course in them way back when) and the one advantage I will note to the Stampin’ Blendabilities markers is the no-thought process involved. I think that’s why I enjoy SU products so much – there’s a lot of coordination and they really do work to make it easy. In this case, each colour set includes 3 shades – a light one, a medium one and a dark one. So you can use the light one as a main colour and use the other 1-2 to add shading and depth. With Copics, it can sometimes be a bit of a trick to figure out which ones work really well together (well, at least for me LOL!!).

I figured it was also appropriate to post this card today as the sale of my house is official today! We are in the new home (new to us, and just up the street from our old place!), but still in the midst of renovations…but I do see the light at the end of the construction tunnel….I think…

If you are local to Burlington, please consider attending my upcoming Blendabilities class on Wednesday, September 24 at 7pm. Your $50 class fee includes TWO sets of Blendabilities in your choice of colour plus instructions and supplies to create 4 projects using your new markers. Since the fee includes product, you must register and pay for this class by September 10th. Late registrations will be accepted up to September 18th if space allows, but will be subject to a $25 surcharge to cover express shipping in order for product to arrive in time for class. See my Events page HERE. You can register & pay via PayPal on the Events page, or you can contact me directly to register.

Eighteen Weeks….

star-bundle-cardThis is a card we made at Stampers Club this month, featuring the Bright & Beautiful Stars Bundle that’s part of the Big Shot Bundle special this month. I love how the stamp images coordinate with the framelits so it’s super easy to cut them out (and centre the image perfectly!).

As for the title of this post, yes, frightening but true – 18 weeks today is CHRISTMAS! So yay for Club members who now have one card done for the season 😉  If you are looking to get going on your holiday cards, I have good news!  September brings the first Christmas Stamp a Stack! Sunday, September 14 from 1-4 pm – attendees will make 10 Christmas cards (2 of 5 different designs) – all supplies and envelopes are included.

Registration is now open; space is limited and registration will close September 12th. Click on the link to pay using Paypal.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Ho ho ho!

We Survived Moving….and the New Weekly Deals from Stampin’ Up! Canada

Hello! Can you tell that this post is coming from a slightly different geographical location?! LOL – we have more or less moved houses and despite the boxes (and contractors still around the new home) we are settling in as best we can. First priorities were getting the office and stamp room into a marginally functional state, since we had Stampers Club last evening! Some of the members were laughing about the fact that I went ahead with Club, but it kept me focused on getting a good start on things around here! I will work on getting some photos up as I am able…but in the meantime…

Here are this week’s Weekly Deals – there’s a bunch of great items in this batch (as always) – I already have a number of these items in my stash (love the Travel Journal Digital kit) – I think my favourite is the Dazzling Details! I love that this little bottle lets me put some sparkle exactly where I want it with minimal mess…it increases the possibility that I will NOT be walking around glittering for the rest of the day…click on the link beside each item to see it in the YamStamps Online Stampin’ Up! store, or click here to see all the Weekly Deals at once. If you need any help placing your order, feel free to contact me. Happy shopping!

This Week’s Deals

A new batch of Weekly Deals from Stampin’ Up! Canada! Lots of great deals this week – including great dies for the Big Shot – my fave is the Petite Purse. I love this little 3D item for holding little chocolates, messages or as a decorative item. Just popped in to share these fun things with you – now back to the last minute packing of boxes; when I post next it will be from my new location 🙂 (Up the street…but it’s amazing how disruptive a move can be!)
