Here's the checkerboard from my CH Morning Live appearance. Great to create on rainy days (which, unfortunately are in the forecast for the southern Ontario area). I took a 12" x 12" piece of cardstock, then used my papercutter to cut 7 slits 11" long (leaving 1/2" on either end), spaced 1-1/4" apart, starting 2-1/4" from one end. I cut 8 strips of contrasting cardstock 1-1/4" x 12" (only because I was too lazy to calculate what they should be…lol). Weave the strips of cardstock through the larger piece, and then adjust the ends & trim to size so you end up with a checkerboard that is 8 squares by 8 squares in size. Adhere the ends of the strips in place and you're done! To create the checker pieces, I stamped the star image from the Stampin' Up! set "Wanted" on whisper white cardstock and punched them out with the 1-1/4" circle punch. Use the 1-3/8" circle punch to create backing circles from the 2 cardstock colours you used. In my example, I used Apricot Appeal and Almost Amethyst. The joy of creating your own projects – you can use whatever colour you'd like!!!
Feel free to email me if you have any questions about this project. Don't forget the new Stampin' Up! Deal of the Week will be revealed Monday at 12 noon EST (or is it EDT??!!). I'll post an update here, but if you're anxious, check www.yamstamps.stampinup.net at noon tomorrow if you want the hot off the press info!

Thanks again to CH Morning Live for having me on the show yesterday, and if you're new to my site, welcome! Please be sure to sign up for my newsletter (see the box at the left) to get more project ideas and tips in your email inbox.
This is the fun flip flop mini scrapbook that I shared. A cheap pair of flip flops disguises the accordian fold page within. I used the Serif Essentials Big Shot Bigz Die to cut out the letters (or you could stamp them too) and then cut the photos to size. My pages were about 2.5" wide, which is as wide as the flip flops, so you'll need to measure your flip flops to figure out which is the right width. I used 2 lengths of cardstock to create the page above.
I'll post another sample tomorrow so please come back to www.yamstamps.com to see what's new!

OK…if I've done this correctly, this should post just as I'm going on air on CH Morning Live. I've been fortunate enough to be invited back to the show to share some summer kids crafts. These are two mobiles I created – a butterfly version and a rocket ship version. Both are essentially the same concept – the rockets were stamped in Staz On Black and coloured with the Stampin' Write markers, before being punched out with a circle punch. The butterflies are die cut with the Big Shot and showcase Stampin' Up!'s double sided designer series paper. Super fun & easy!

I've been invited to teach a class at Sharkey's Cuts for Kids here in Burlington (Appleby Line & Dundas) on Tuesday, June 16th from 4 to 6 pm. It's a great place for kids to get their hair cut – there's videos for the younger ones and video games for the older kids plus "minicures" for the girls and tattoos for the boys afterwards! This is the project we'll be doing that day – a men's style wallet out of paper, with spots for a gift card/cash/photos/note/whatever. (Sorry, you'll have to supply your own gift card, money and photo cut out of a magazine lol! Oh – and hair cut is not included, sorry!). We'll also be making a card, so all together they combine to make a great Father's Day gift!
This class is $15 and includes all supplies, and is open to adults, and children age 7 and up in the company of an adult. So for those of you who have asked for a daytime class or kids class – here it is! Please contact me to reserve your spot or if you have any questions. Click on the Paypal link below to pay securely by credit card and ensure your spot. Spaces are limited, so don't wait until the last minute or you may be sorry!!

This is a box made with Stampin' Up!'s Big Shot Matchbox Bigz XL Die – love it! I used some Tea Party Designer Series Paper for the box and a medium window sheet for the sleeve. When die cutting the window sheet, I found that if I placed a piece of cardstock underneath the die, it helped the score lines to show up better. I have ordered the extended premium crease pad so I'm sure that would help too (I'll be sure to report in on that!).
Anyway, the beauty of this little box is that the only adhesive needed was a bit of Sticky Strip to hold the sleeve together. The bottom of the box stays together without adhesive!! I wrapped a bit more of the Tea Party paper around a few Hershey nuggets to coordinate, and then tied some Very Vanilla wide grosgrain around the whole package.
Wouldn't these make cute party favours?! (of course, you'd need to get extra chocolates to test for their freshness, a quality control measure I insist upon…)
If you purchase this die before the end of April, you qualify for the Get Connected Promotion and receive your choice of one Under $12 product (p 208 of the Idea Book & Catalogue) for free!! PLUS if you place your order through www.yamstamps.stampinup.net (click on SHOP NOW) – you'll get a free copy of the Idea Book & Catalogue as well!! What's not to like about that?! Again, both of these specials are on until the end of April – TWO days from now…
Contact me if you have any questions!
