Island Floral Card

Island-floral-cardI have to admit, there are some cards that I like more than others, and this is one of them. I particularly like this one because while it looks involved, it's really quite easy! (That's my specialty I think….cards that aren't too hard to make, but look difficult!!)

Anyway – this card uses the Island Floral Bigz die for the Big Shot for the focal floral accessory.  By sponging the edges of the cardstock, I think it adds an extra depth.  The gold glimmer brad holds the die cuts together (there's a hole in the centre of them) and adds a bit of bling.  Love the Lace Ribbon Border punch – one of my new favourites, I think!  Plus tone on tone stamping of En Francais makes the background a little more interesting.

I think you will also LOVE the Christmas card that I came up with using this die as well!! Thanks to the sharp eyes of a club member, Jo-Ann, I was able to visualize this floral die being used in a whole new way.  If you want to see what became of that observation, be sure to be signed up for my newsletter!  Newsletter subscribers will be receiving my Twelve Weeks of Christmas as a special "thank you" for being part of my email list – each week brings a new card, wrap or gift idea to make your holiday season a little more crafty!  Sign up HERE or click below to be sure that you won't miss out – it starts OCTOBER 5th – ONE WEEK TODAY!!

Letterpress Video

Here's a video showing Stampin' Up!'s letterpress dies for the Big Shot.  (I'm not sure that it always works if you're reading this by email/reader, so if not – click here to come to the blog post)

I got my issue of Creating Keepsakes in the mail today.  One of my favourite features is the section where they show a crafter's scrapbooking/craft room.  I always drool over these pages….anyway, the latest issue features the craft room of Stampin' Up!'s CEO/co-founder, Shelli Gardner!

Meanwhile, in my much smaller, much messier craft room, I'm finalizing prep for my upcoming workshops and Christmas Card Clinics.  There's still space in my November card class (featuring Christmas cards), and in many of the Card Clinic dates.  Please see my event page for dates and details, or contact me for more information!  Hope to see you soon!

Fore you – a tee box…

Tee-box I crack me up LOL…. this is a quick box I made using the Bigz XL die – Box #2 for the Big Shot.  I added some Designer Series Paper – a strip around the bottom and a strip on the lid – to add a bit more colour, and then stamped out "fore you" using the Rough Type alpha from the Summer Mini catalogue.

This box holds a number of golf tees, and you could throw in some driving range tokens, ball markers etc – great for a golfing dad?!

I've updated my classes page and it should be accessible now.  Somehow I knocked it offline for a bit – sorry about that!  I've added classes through the summer and am planning ahead for Stampers Club in September!

Wood Veneer Card – “As Seen on TV”!

Wood-veneer-cardThank you CH Morning Live!  I was invited back to the studios today to share some Father's Day ideas.  This is the wood veneer card created using the Big Shot and Serif Essentials Dies.  I applied part of a Sticky Page to the back of the wood veneer to prevent it from splitting along the grain.  (I figured this out after wrecking a few letters first LOL).  It works really well, though!  The adhesive and liner help prevent the wood veneer from splitting while I die cut letters, and then you can peel off the plastic liner and adhere the letters to your project really easily!

Please be sure to sign up for my newsletter (click on link or go to the box at the top left corner of this page).  You'll receive written instructions on how to make a stair step card, plus you'll get all the updates on my classes and new Stampin' Up! products.  I'll be posting more images of the projects from my TV appearance in the next few days, so please be sure to come back here to www.yamstamps.com to see everything!

Another CH Morning Live Project

Flip-flops Open-flip-flops

Thanks again to CH Morning Live for having me on the show yesterday, and if you're new to my site, welcomePlease be sure to sign up for my newsletter (see the box at the left) to get more project ideas and tips in your email inbox.

This is the fun flip flop mini scrapbook that I shared.  A cheap pair of flip flops disguises the accordian fold page within.  I used the Serif Essentials Big Shot Bigz Die to cut out the letters (or you could stamp them too) and then cut the photos to size.  My pages were about 2.5" wide, which is as wide as the flip flops, so you'll need to measure your flip flops to figure out which is the right width.  I used 2 lengths of cardstock to create the page above.

I'll post another sample tomorrow so please come back to www.yamstamps.com to see what's new!
