Here’s a fun card for Valentine’s Day – nice enough on the outside…
featuring the Tags 4 You set from the Holiday Catalogue that is still available to order, punched out with the Bracket Label punch and accented with a row of hearts from the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions folders.
But open the card and there’s an extra surprise!
Inside, it’s fun with mini banners! These are from the Sale-a-Bration set Banner Blast and the coordinating Sale-a-Bration Banner punch. Remember that you get one free Sale-a-Bration item for every $60 in Stampin’ Up! Canada merchandise ordered until the end of March.
This was one of the cards I took along to Morning Live, but I’m not sure if you got a look at it on screen…and with the travel to and fro I notice now that one of the little banners is a little askew – but hey, as I _always_ say – if the recipient of a handmade card makes a negative comment, then they don’t deserve it!!! LOL Just joking. Kind of.

I shared a quick photo of this card on Instagram last week – a quick photo of a quick card! This clean and simple card uses Stampin’ Up!’s For the Birds set, coloured with Stampin’ Write Markers and blender pen. I used the blender pen to get a less intense, more blendable colour effect….but this set will be FANTASTIC with the new Blendabilities alcohol based markers when they are released (which is not soon enough for me….LOL). Not sure if you can see it, but there’s also a touch of embossing as well – I thought the cross stitch needlepoint look could also double as “kisses”…
If you like the look of the dry embossing but have not yet gotten the Big Shot, Stampin’ Up! has introduced a new device, the Texture Boutique Embossing Machine. It’s like a Mini Big Shot. (A Little Shot??) This lightweight, portable device is perfect for Embossing. It’s going to appear in the NEXT annual catalogue, but there is a limited supply available NOW. Have I mentioned how much I like the Stampin’ Up! Festive Flurry Ornament kit?! This card is a great way to present an ornament to someone special. The Winter Frost Designer Series Paper layer is actually popped up a bit at the top using some Stampin’ Dimensionals. After creating the ornament, the ribbon is tucked in behind that layer to anchor it in place. It makes a beautiful looking presentation, and then afterwards, the recipient can pull out the ornament and use it on their tree! This could be a great family project – and the kids can sign their names to the back of the ornament with the date as a keepsake.
The next photo shows the ornament separate from the card. We created this in the last of the Christmas Card Class Series….talk about going out with a bang! Just a reminder that January’s Monthly Card Class will be held the SECOND Wednesday of the month, since the first Wednesday is January 1st so people might still be recovering from all the festivities. OK. I might still be recovering from being forced to stay up past midnight. Whatever.

Oops! I just realized that I hadn’t posted the video from my CHCH TV Morning Live appearance here! I did manage to get it onto the YamStamps Youtube channel….so I’m catching up now! I am always grateful when I’m invited back to be on the Morning Live show – the hosts and crew are fantastic to work with, and we always have fun on air. This past time, I shared some handmade Christmas card ideas – including a fun (and fairly simple to recreate) 3D card. This is the card we created live on air last week when I was invited back to CHCH TV’s Morning Live show. I always enjoy my spots there, and I know that co-host Annette Hamm is crafty, so it’s always fun to share new projects with her. While this is a Christmas card, I think you could change out the sentiment and turn it into an any occasion card…maybe add a few more stars…or have no stars at all….hmmm….. You may not recognize the Stampin’ Up! Evergreen stamp set as it does not appear in a current catalogue but is still available to order, which is a good thing, since I like it so much 🙂
