Nov 21, 2013 | Big Shot, cards, Christmas, Events, rubber stamping, Stampin' Up!
When we made this card in Stampers Club, some people were looking for the Designer Series Paper to complete this project….but it’s all done with stamps! We stamped the various ornaments from the Stampin’ Up! set Ornament Keepsakes in Smoky Slate (have I mentioned how much I LOOOOOVE this new addition to the SU colour family?), Night of Navy and Always Artichoke. Added the “merry” cut from Brushed Silver Cardstock and tada! I adhered a strip of the Brushed Silver Cardstock to a Big Shot Multi-Purpose Adhesive sheet so after we die cut the word, it adhered easily and neatly to the cardfront.

Nov 14, 2013 | cards, rubber stamping, Stampin' Up!
I love Stampin’ Up!’s the Open Sea for a masculine card – and here I paired it with a circular image from Blue Ribbon to create a birthday card. I also used a strip of Designer Series Paper from the Epic Day This and That package, and some linen thread, the cheapest most versatile accessory I think I own! Those neutral accessories always go far – did you see that the Burlap Ribbon is on sale this week? That’s in the same category for me.
Can you believe we’re almost half way through November? Even though I do the 12 Weeks of Christmas mailings and have to keep on top of that schedule during the countdown to Christmas, I always find myself a bit shocked at how the time flies. We only have one more monthly Christmas Card Class left – in December!! However – there is a Stamp a Stack on Saturday, November 30th – so you can make 10 Christmas cards (2 each of 5 different designs) in one of the two sessions. Cards are the same for both sessions…though I guess if you came for both, you’d have 20 cards…LOL. Anyway – if you need to build up your stash of handmade cards, please register for one of the sessions! You can do so on the events page itself, or by contacting me by email.
Oct 19, 2013 | 3D samples, cards, Occasions, TV/Video/Web/Tech
Here’s a sampling of the spooky projects (OK perhaps not spooky…) that I shared on Morning Live on Friday. I am always grateful to be invited back to the show to share some fun projects. Not so heavy on the rubber stamping, but lots of fun, still!
The mummy-wrapped box of candy – it’s a Smarties box – I used the smarties in some of the projects and used the empty box for this project. On air, it would have been way too noisy to use a full box! It’s wrapped in the natural 7/8″ cotton ribbon (I think I called it twill tape on air). A fun colourful card featuring the Bootiful Occasions stamp set.
The candy broomsticks, using the skinny cello bags and a fringed piece of cardstock, wrapped also with some Hallowe’en washi tape.
The paper piecing candy corn, the ghosts from the owl punch, and the little witch hat. I’ll try to get a video tutorial of how to make the hat up in plenty of time for you to create a few to share with special trick or treaters, or as a decoration for your Hallowe’en table.
I don’t have the bag toppers in this photo…because they got left behind! I will recreate them and take photos (or you can just check out the video below, on the YamStamps Youtube channel, or on the CHCH webpage LOL).
Happy Hallowe’en Crafting!
Oct 16, 2013 | Announcements, cards, Christmas, TV/Video/Web/Tech
So – mark your calendars! This Friday, October 18th I’ll be on CH Morning Live sharing some crafty Hallowe’en projects. Should be fun! I’m not going to post ANY samples ahead of time, because when I do, that’s always the project that I don’t end up showing on air. We’ll see how that works for me this time LOL. My scheduled slot is 9:15 so set your PVR! (I’ll try to get a recording to share here as well).
In the meantime, I looooove the latest photopolymer set from Stampin’ Up! It’s called Endless Wishes and I just love the clean images and scripted words that are included in this set. Can’t wait to get my hands on one….and once I do you can be sure I’ll be using it for myself and for classes. Here’s the link to the flyer
If you’d like to get this set right away, you can place your order online and use the current hostess code WAUDSM7E. When you do, you’ll be entered into a draw to get the hostess benefits from all online orders placed! So if your order is less than $200, please use the hostess code – what have you got to lose? If your order is $200 or more, do NOT use the hostess code – you’ll earn benefits all on your own 😉 If you have questions, please contact me.
OK now to get back in the Hallowe’en spirit to prepare for Friday!
Oct 10, 2013 | Big Shot, cards, Christmas
I’d tweeted about a great idea I’d visualized for a card…but you know how it goes with those ideas, sometimes…looks fantastic in your imagination, but in real life, doesn’t work out. Well this one worked! OK so I may rework the background again at some point, but it was the “ornament” that I was visualizing. I used the globe stamp from The Open Sea (a non-Christmas set), and paired it with the ornament framelit from the Holiday Ornaments framelits set that is still available (though not featured in the current catalogue and kind of hard to find on the online store site!). Anyway, it fit well enough for me to be happy with the result. Add a ribbon and there you go! The inside sentiment is “Joy to the World” but “Peace on Earth” would also be appropriate, don’t you think??
I designed this card for the October Christmas Card Class. If you are just getting into holiday card mode (or vaguely realizing that there’s a holiday coming up at some point in the next while…) there’s the November & December Christmas Card Classes still to come. Each month features 4 different cards (and different from the month before as well). You’ll have plenty of ideas if you want to recreate some of them for mass mailing. OR….consider attending my November 30th Stamp a Stack or Christmas Card Clinic. You’ll have your choice – 10 cards of 5 different designs, or 10 (or more) cards of the same design. Watch for the sign up in the next couple of weeks. Of course, there’s also the 12 Weeks of Christmas mailings – 2 weeks down, 10 to go…if you’re on my mailing list, you’ll automatically receive these special mailings.
In the meantime, I’m off to start thinking about my Thanksgiving menu! (Order turkey – check; everything else for the meal: ummmmm)

Did you know this is International Coffee Day? (Neither did I….) but thought I’d share this fun coffee themed card with you. I received it in a swap at the past Stampin’ Up! convention from Rose Marie Coleman. Check out the YamStamps facebook page for another coffee-themed card!
While you’re enjoying your cup of coffee, why not check your calendar? Be sure to check my events page to see all my upcoming classes and events. This Wednesday, October 2nd is my monthly card class – would love for you to join us to create 4 cards using a variety of techniques and tools. We’ll be using the Envelope Punch Board for a fun card – and if you’re keen on getting your hands on one of these, contact me ASAP or place your order online as we’ve been notified that supplies are running low and the next shipment isn’t until October…not to panic you or anything! Also coming up – the next installment in my monthly Christmas Card Classes – Friday October 4th.
As always, if you aren’t able to make my class dates, get a group of friends together and I will come to you! Private classes are a great way to have a “Girls Night” – catch up on the news AND try something fun and craft at the same time! Contact me to discuss potential party dates!
