World Cardmaking Day 2022

Celebrate World Cardmaking Day on Saturday 1 October!

There are “days” for everything it seems – but this is one of my favourite ones! World Cardmaking Day 2022 is TODAY – Saturday, 1 October. OK, truthfully, I think EVERY day is World Cardmaking Day, but whatever.

Stampin’ Up! is having a free virtual event later today and you can join in! You can craft along using your supplies at home. Go to https://yamstamps.com/wcm22 to get more information and to join the fun. It starts at 2pm MT (which is 4pm Eastern, 1 pm Pacific if I’ve done the calculations correctly). The craft along event uses the Cottage Rose Bundle, Cottage Wreaths Bundle and Warm Welcome Bundle – but you can substitute bundles that you have at home, or re-watch the event when you have the bundles at hand! These are the products that will be used during the event. Here is the list of dimensions for the projects.

I hope that you are able to find a bit of time today to make something! Happy World Cardmaking Day! (Oh…and come back soon for a fun announcement too!)

How I Spent My Weekend

Or at least part of it…. Stampin’ Up! had a Leaders Summit this weekend – it kicked off Thursday evening, actually and ran Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday afternoon/evening. It was to be an in person event….in New Orleans….but got changed to an online event due to COVID. Let’s just call it a fortunate thing in some ways – because I don’t think anyone would have been able to make it to an in person event due to the weather!

Like most Stampin’ Up! events, it was a mix of information and inspiration. As this event was for demonstrators that have a team of demonstrators it also looked at ways to support and motivate our team as well as ourselves and featured some great guest speakers and the chance to network and brainstorm with other demonstrators.

Did you see the surprise gift that the sent to the leaders who registered for this event? (You may have heard me squealing a bit…). Imagine getting this box!

It was a beautiful gift, and in all honesty, I love the box as much as the contents LOL.

Here’s a fun project that uses Coastal Cabana, which is kind of close to the Tiffany Blue, and drink glasses which are similar but different to the Stampin’ Up! flutes that I received. Click on the image to see the items used to create it and a quick tip on how to get two-toned drink images!

Stampin’ Up!’s next event has also moved to an online format, and it’s open to all demonstrators. I’m looking forward to attending, along with members of the “Eh” Team – my demonstrator group. If you’re a demonstrator and you’re reading this post – a reminder that the deadline to regsiter for the event is September 1st! If you’re not yet a demonstrator, you can find out more about becoming a member of my demonstrator group here – or message me!

Blue and Silver Holiday Card

I used my favourite colour combination for this blue and silver holiday card! Plus it has some teeny stars on it – so an all around favourite for me I think. This is from the August Christmas Card Class – and I liked it so much, I included a variation of it for my regular September class too!

blue and silver holiday card

My Christmas Card Classes include product – and it’s typically a package of embellishments that we use on our cards and then class members take the remainder of their packages home to use for other projects. In August, I was only working out of the Annual Catalogue, since the Holiday Catalogue wasn’t available for customer orders yet! We used the Designer Elements in that class, and then used Clear Faceted Gems this month.

Holiday Basic Rhinestones

By the way – If you like bling, you’ll want to register for the October Christmas Card Class – we’ll be using the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels!

This blue and silver holiday card could be used for Christmas, Hanukkah or New Years, don’t you think? The sentiment and dangling stars are from the Making Christmas Bright stamp set (the one with the Christmas bulbs!). The variety of stamps in the set means you can come up with a variety of “looks” from one stamp set. To extend the dangling stars, we used the Stamparatus to make sure the images were perfectly in line, and then stamped them twice – the sentiment hides the gap. I didn’t mind the lines running off the top of the card, but I wanted the finished effect at the bottom. (which I now realize you can’t really see well for the watermaking on the photo. Sorry!).

he image and sentiment were stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with the Silver Embossing Powder. Heat embossing is always a winner for holiday cards in my opinion! The card is Smoky Slate, which I find really compliments any silver accents, without drawing attention away from them.

Hard to believe, but I’ve only got two more scheduled Christmas Card Classes this year! You have two more chances to make some beautiful handmade cards to give to the special people on your card list. Plus there’s an Advent Calendar Class too! Wednesday, November 13th – 1pm or 7pm – you can come to class, pick up your Christmas Countdown kit and use my stamps and ink to complete the project!

Countdown to Christmas Project

The class fee of $55 covers the kit (plus shipping/taxes) and the use of my adhesives/ink/stamps to complete the kit as per the instructions. You can contact me to register, or use the PayPal link on the YamStamps Events page. Registration & payment required by October 30th, or additional fees may apply in order to ensure that your kit will arrive in time for class.

Check out an alternative use for the kit that I shared here on the YamStamps Facebook Page! BONUS – you don’t have to use the kit for one or the other! The boxes have notches on two sides, so I’m thinking that after the Christmas season is over, I’ll flip the boxes around and use them for something else! What would you use them for?

Oh – and for my next Christmas Card share, I promise to try to show something OTHER than a blue and silver holiday card. No promises about the card AFTER that one though. hahaha!

Christmas in August….

Eek! I’m running late already!!! I usually have a July Christmas Card Class but time has gotten away from me so we are launching the Christmas Card Classes NEXT month. (which in case you hadn’t noticed, starts next week) (WHAT?!). Demonstrators just got access to the online version of the 2019 Holiday catalogue so it’s definitely feeling festive in this household! Starting in August, demonstrators can preorder Holiday catalogue product – and new demonstrators can order Holiday Catalogue product in their starter kits! General public sales start September 4th. (Leave a comment or message me if you want a copy – I’ll get in touch with you to confirm details!)

Springtime Card

Thought I’d share this easy springtime card or Easter card – depending on whether or not you use the Easter sentiment!

yamstamps springtime easter card

If you stopped by the YamStamps booth at Kitchener Scrapfest this past weekend, you may have seen a version of this card on my display board! It’s one of April’s class cards.

The texture in the background is provided by the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder. I LOVE the 3D effect you get from the deeper impressions. (Just remember to only use the top plastic cutting plate when you run it through your Big Shot die cutting machine (get it while you can LOL) – because it really won’t fit otherwise). The daffodil is from the In Every Season stamp set which is available in red rubber clear mount and red rubber wood mount, and the sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings set, available in red rubber clear mount or red rubber wood mount.

One of the things I love about making cards is that I have the fun of making the card, and the recipient has the fun of receiving a handmade card. Anne, of the demonstrators in my group, told a story about how a family member still has a handmade Christmas card displayed on her fridge because it reminds her how much Anne loves her! I think that’s a fantastic sentiment.

This card was particularly fun because the flower is coloured with Stampin’ Blends – I do enjoy a bit of colouring, and this was fast and easy because the image is not too big! Just remember to use Memento Ink if you’re reproducing this card – so that your image won’t smear when you use the Blends. The daffodil and the combination of Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock (grab it before it’s all gone…) and Daffodil Delight Cardstock help make this a true springtime card!

yamstamps kitchener scrapfest

I also wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by my booth at the Kitchener Scrapfest! Huge thanks to Anne and Mary who helped me out at my booth….and to my mother who did a quick round trip to drop off some items I accidentally left at home – true story!! I hope all the croppers, shoppers and vendors had a relaxing day today recovering!

If you filled out one of the door prize draw entries, I’ll be making the draw for the winner of the shopping spree tomorrow – I’ll do a Facebook Live on the YamStamps Page if all goes according to plan (and there’s not some weird outage like there was early today!). Maybe I’ll get someone at Stampers Club to help me out… I’ll also post links to the official Stampin’ Up! retiring list as soon as I’m able – so stay tuned!
