Celebrate!

LY-1255

I recently celebrated fourteen years with Stampin’ Up! Hard to believe that time has flown so quickly and that my business has grown as much as it has. I bought the starter kit simply to get easy access to my own paper crafting supplies (at the time I lived a ferry ride and a good car drive away from any sort of craft store whatsoever!). These days I enjoy having classes, clubs and working online as well. Of late though, my online work has been suffering a bit because my computer has been ailing….and as we speak it is in the shop getting an overhaul. Fingers crossed it happens quickly. Thankfully, I do have other options to get online access, though it’s making me think a bit harder, adapting to different devices….though apparently that’s good for fighting off aging. Must look on the bright side.

In any case, this is the lovely card that was sent to me by the Stampin’ Up! Canada home office. Dale and Carrie do their best for the Canadian demonstrators, and I know they have a group of crafty helpers who create anniversary cards for Dale to sign and send out!

In the meantime, a reminder that my New Catalogue Open House will be held Saturday, June 4 from 9am til noon in Burlington. Please RSVP to have a copy of the catalogue set aside for you, and so that I can give you directions. You’ll be able to pick up the catalogue and have a shop at the Retired Product sale! I look forward to seeing you.

Be a Winner – Just Like Kate!

LY-4087

It was SUCH a busy weekend but a lot of fun too! I had a booth at the Kitchener Scrapfest on Friday and Saturday. Lots of people came by (thank you if you were one of them!), looked, shopped, entered the draw and did my free make and takes. This photo is Kate, who won the free draw for a Big Shot! I understand she’s got a group of friends who will help her make sure it gets plenty of use. I was just as excited as she was….because she was still around when I did the draw so I didn’t have to take it home again and ship it out to her!

Thanks also to the people who volunteered to help me out, and those who were able to make it to help me out!

Leanne, one of my wonderful members of my demonstrator group, Suzanne, who loves Stampin’ Up! and teaching, and Kat, my “non-crafty” cousin who helped with customer service and cleaning up my booth (and introduced me to the fantastic food from Arabesque).

If you would like your chance to win something…..my annual Retiring List Contest is back!

HOW TO ENTER:
Send me an email with your list of 10 stamp sets that you believe will be retiring from the Annual Catalogue (No hostess sets, no Occasions catalogue sets) by FRIDAY, APRIL 15. The person with the most correct guesses will win a $25 gift certificate from me! Get all 10 correct, and get a $30 gift certificate! In the event of a tie, I will randomly draw the winner. I reserve the right to close the contest early. If the winner is outside Canada, gift certificate may only be used for online classes, not merchandise, as per Stampin’ Up! regulations. Offer good only through me, Linda Yamamoto / YamStamps, Independent Stampin’ Up! Canada Demonstrator.

Good luck!!

Hello and Goodbye

ecard_HM-Retiring_dbws_11.23.15_US_CA

For the first time, Stampin’ Up! is advising us what product in the seasonal catalogue will not be returning in a future catalogue – in other words, what will be retiring! In the past, it was a guessing game, figuring out what “might” come back in a future annual catalogue – well now, it’s not (although I’m doing the guessing game of “WHAT? Why wouldn’t they bring THAT back again?!” LOL). So we’re saying goodbye to some items: here’s the list, you can download it in pdf or sortable spreadsheet….and get shopping…

What were you most sad to see on the list? My big sad: Sleighride Edgelits.  I thought for sure they’d make a reappearance in the future!

One thing that is taking the edge off the sadness….saying hello to friends old and new! I spent the Friday evening and Saturday at a new Stampin’ Up! demonstrator event called On Stage and Centre Stage. These replace the convention, are semi-annual, and are going to be held all over – this one was in Brussels, Belgium – but there were multiple smaller events coordinated with the Brussels event all over North America & the Pacific! We saw some footage from Brussels, plus had live demonstrations and sessions. There is nothing like getting together with a bunch of Stampin’ Up! demos to be inspired and entertained. I can’t share any photos of the product or catalogues we saw there at this time (top secret!) but here’s a non-incriminating photo….(well, that’s a relative term I suppose)

These are some of the “Eh” Team – my family of demonstrators, (Karen, Gail and Leanne; Mary was still en route) and myself with Dale Hampshire, the Stampin’ Up! Canada Manager. We learned a lot and laughed a lot this weekend, and it’s always great to meet up with friends.

Centre Stage is a leadership event, with a catered dinner and presentation on the Friday evening – I was too busy eating and talking to take a lot of photos at the time (I know you’re surprised….) but here’s a photo of the lovely flowers from our table. They must have made sure everyone knew the colour palette because my friends in other cities had similar (but not identical) arrangements!

Anyway, I’m off to finish preparations for Stampers Club today! I will have orders going in, so if you’re interested in grabbing any of the retiring Holiday Catalogue product, or any items for your holiday crafting, you can contact me for assistance or have me include your order if you’re local to Burlington, or shop online at the YamStamps Online Stampin’ Up! Canada store. Happy Shopping!

Using Vellum for Cardmaking

snowflake-vellum

I love how vellum makes projects look even more impressive. This simple card was made using Stampin’ Up!’s Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. For this card, two strips of the silver snowflake vellum were layered on top of each other and bordered by some White Glitter Ribbon. Ignore that the top ribbon is slightly wonky….I learned from this and everyone in club learned a technique to make sure that their ribbon was straight!! (I’ll put up a video about it later this week – promise!)

If you want to find out more about how to use vellum in your cardmaking, then be sure to register for the November Christmas Card Class – REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS TODAY! Class happens on November 19th at 7pm here in Burlington, and your $30 class fee includes a package of Iced Rhinestones and the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack. You’ll use some of the product to make your 4 cards that evening, and take the rest home – plenty to make more projects! See the YamStamps Events Page or click below to register by PayPal. Contact me if you have any questions. See you in class!
