season of cheer photo

A reminder that TODAY is the deadline to register and pay for the October 15th Christmas Card Class! Your $30 fee will include a package of Seasons of Cheer Designer Series Paper (see above) and a package of Rhinestone Basic Jewels. We’ll make four cards using a tiny portion of your product and you take the rest home – to either duplicate the cards or come up with your own designs! Start time is 7pm. If you can’t make it that day – consider having a private Seasons of Cheer Christmas Card Class – same idea, but you can host in your own home with your friends on a date that better suits you. See the YamStamps Events page for the PayPal link to complete your payment and registration, or contact me for details on booking your own class!

Get a Gift from Me!

booking-basket-image Did the “gift” word attract your eye? Read on to find out more!

First of all, Happy Long Weekend! I hope that you’ve been able to spend some time relaxing with friends and family. While I have had downtime with my family, at the same time, I’ve been working away at clearing out my craft room. It’s been long overdue. As I was going through items (a lot of which were in boxes), I realized that a number of these boxes were actually from when I moved house (a year ago….ahem). I think I unpacked the crucial items that I needed right away and a lot of things were left to “deal with later”. I found some tools and items that I had been wondering where they had gone….(Stamp-a-ma-jig sheets for example…) and am now working at putting things into proper homes. The upside is that I’m looking forward to eventually having an even more clear space to work in and a dedicated space for videos. Right now, I’ve been clearing off my working surface, shooting videos and then re-cluttering the surface as I worked on more projects, then repeating the process (which also might explain the slowness in producing videos of late?!).

SO

The good news is that I’m making progress. The not so good news is that it’s going to take a little longer than I thought it would! LOL. However, the other good news is that I’ve found a LOT of items that I am able to include in my BOOKING BASKET. If you received my September newsletter, you might have noticed that I’m offering a BONUS for booking an in home cardmaking class in the next couple of months. Book a date before the end of October and you get a free pick at the basket. Well, right now, it’s actually a bin, there’s so much stuff. There’s stamp sets, cardstock, paper, tools….some current, some retired and no longer available…oh, there’s a Hallowe’en wreath kit…. SO. If you’re within driving distance of Burlington, contact me to book a date, and get a pick from the bin. You’ll receive your item at your party. If someone at your party books a party….you BOTH get a pick from the bin, which you’ll receive at that person’s party. Yay! Free stuff! I’m offering my cardmaking classes for $20 per person to make 4 cards (all supplies & envelopes included), but as always, the host is FREE and gets to keep the samples. New this fall at in home events (only) – each paying class attendee will receive a coupon for a partial rebate on their class fee if they place a qualifying order at the event. What are you waiting for??!!

Post Convention Catch Up….

One of the reasons I love going to Stampin’ Up!’s Convention is to see my friends from across Canada and the USA! We get creative, get inspired and get tired….LOL. I flew in a day early and spent it learning a bunch of new techniques with my friend Lydia (Understand Blue). You can be sure I’ll be using these in upcoming classes! Here’s a sneak peek you may have seen on my Twitter account:

While at convention, we get creative ideas and inspiration plus business tips. We were able to see and play with a lot of the product from Stampin’ Up!’s upcoming Holiday Catalogue. Unfortunately, right now it’s for Demonstrator eyes only, so I can’t share it here – YET. (HINT: become a demonstrator now and get to see the product AND order it before the catalogue goes live in September….just saying….here’s the page for more information) teehee…

This year, I ended up running a 10km race on Friday morning (after finding out about it and signing up on Wednesday…LOL). In Utah, it’s Pioneer Day (a state holiday) and they have a big parade into the centre of Salt Lake. The 10km race finishes along the parade route, so that was kind of fun! My new friend Michelle (Suitably Stamped) and I ran the 10km. Here’s a before shot from my Instagram account:

As a footnote, I did actually get a PB (“personal best”) although not officially through the race timing system. If you want to get technical, the gun time (when they say “start”) and chip time (when YOU actually cross the start/finish lines) are typically not the same, the gun time being longer than the chip time since there’s a number of people to get across the start line. In this race, it says the gun time and my chip time were the same….which they weren’t, so I’m going to go by the time that was on my Garmin.

Turns out that run was a good warmup for my return home. The flight from Salt Lake City was early arriving at LAX but we had no gate to go to, so sat on the tarmac for 45 minutes, which ate up half of my time between flights. I sprinted through LAX to catch a shuttle bus to the proper terminal, cut in line at security (THANK YOU to all the people who let me do that as they saw my panicked face) while they were paging me overhead, and sprinted again to the gate, to JUST make it on the plane. (sorry to those who didn’t make the connection, I told them there were people still coming through but I guess they couldn’t hold the flight). So I made it, but my bag arrived later. Crossing my fingers that everything arrives safely on my doorstep in the next little while. Of course all my goodies are in the suitcase, so you will have to come back to see some of the swaps I received. I can however, a photo of my friend Bev (Texas Rubber and Ink)’s swap card that I took on my phone:

bevs-swap

Anyway….I wait in suspense to get my bag delivered (it’s due to arrive in the next few hours so I’m told) and start the laundry cycle. Don’t worry, I don’t think I’ll be posting pictures of that.

Celebrate Sale-a-Bration!

blue-lotus Sale-a-Bration is that great time of the Stampin’ Up! Canada year where your regular orders earn you FREE product. This Wednesday’s Monthly Card Class will be featuring Sale-a-Bration items – like this card here! The Lotus Blossom Stamp Set has proven to be the most popular choice in the first month of Sale-a-Bration amongst my customers, and I have to agree. I was first drawn to Stampin’ Up! because of Two Step Stamping. You stamp a partial image and then complete the image with another stamp. This allows you to have a stem and a flower that are two different colours, and gradation of colour and dimension in an image. In the Lotus Blossom case, it’s actually Three Step Stamping – the blossom has 3 different components combined to make a beautiful image. This card also uses the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper – another Sale-a-Bration exclusive item. I love that bokeh effect on the paper.

A reminder that registration is required 2 days in advance of any event (to allow me time to prepare all the supplies!) so if you’re interested in attending Wednesday’s class, please register by the end of Monday, February 2nd (once you’ve finished checking out what Wiarton Willie has to say about the weather).

Happy World Cardmaking Day!

Happy World Cardmaking Day! I hope you get to celebrate by doing something fun and creative….like making cards? I’m spending the day getting business tips and inspiration with fellow demonstrators at a Stampin’ Up! Canada event.ehteam Here I am with Leanne and Mary, two demonstrators in my group called the “Eh” team.

melon-mambo-cut-out…and because it’s World Cardmaking Day, I do feel the obligation to share a card with you all!! This is fun card I used at last month’s classes. The flower (from Flower Fair framelits) was die cut from the top layer first, before embossing with the Perfect Polka Dots folder. The top layer is applied to the Melon Mambo layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then the smaller flower was adhered in the centre of the die cut.

Don’t forget that if you want more card ideas, one of the best way is to come to a class and make them! Monthly card classes happen the first Wednesday of each month, or Stampers Club meets every 3rd Monday of the month – and there’s a new option to attend during the daytime instead of the evening if that works better for you. Please contact me if you need more information or want to register! If you aren’t able to make these times there are options – get a group together and we can set a date just for you – or try an online class from the comfort of your own home!

Now – go be creative!!
