Happy Father’s Day! Are you still wondering what to make for Father’s Day? May I suggest a handmade card?!
In honour of Father’s Day and Sunday Swap Share, I’m posting this card created by Paige Stirling Fox, using Stampin’ Up!’s A Good Man cling stamp set> I love all the little details and touches she added to this card! This is one of those stamp sets that you can use as an outline image only, or add colour with Stampin’ Blends or Aqua Painters and Watercolour Pencils (did you see that the Assortment 2 set (previously a limited time offering) is back for good in this year’s catalogue?).
If you aren’t searching for “What to Make for Father’s Day” because you’ve already got your gift (here’s hoping since Father’s Day is today…) – here’s a cute packaging idea featuring the Best Catch stamp set.
If the Dad in your life likes to fish, this is a great packaging idea to hold a bit of fishing gear or a gift card to an outdoor store?
Of course, another idea for “What to Make for Father’s Day”is food…. In our household growing up (and it seems in a lot of households?) the tradition is actually for dad to barbeque something for dinner! So maybe make some dessert to go with the bbq? Stampin’ Up!’s cellophane bags are food safe and ready to load with some baked goodies or your dad’s favourite candies.
Happy Father’s Day to all the father’s and mentoring men out there. Here in Burlington it also means the Sound of Music Festival – free concerts and yesterday’s parade are highlights! I’m hanging out with my favourite band as usual – the Burlington Teen Tour Band – and it’s also the reason it was a little on the quiet side in the YamStamps world – I’ll post more about that in the days to come now that I think I’m almost recovered from jetlag…. Kudos to the people that dealt with my occasional yawning during the Monthly Card Class last week, and apologies in advance to tomorrow’s Stamper’s Club people!! In any case, we’re back at it – hope to see you at an event soon – like the New Catalogue Open House & Retired Product Sale June 22?! Contact me for more details/directions and to reserve a copy of the catalogue!
Happy Valentine’s Day! There’s still time to whip up a cute treat for someone special – like this fun treat topper!
This is a quick and easy way to present a sweet treat to someone. Using Stampin’ Up! food safe cello bags, simply close the bag (I just used adhesive tape) and then fold some Designer Series Paper over the top and adhere in place! In this case, I die cut a Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheet (Level 1 Sale-a-Bration choice – free with a $60 CAD product order) heart from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits and adhered it onto a piece of Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper.
If you’re wondering about the treats – our family has enjoyed trying the different flavours of Japanese Kit Kats…though the ones in this gift bag are pretty “tame” – strawberry and matcha green tea. One of my “bucket list” trips is to go to Japan…and of course I will have to search out some different flavours to try once I get there! We’ve been trying out the Bokksu boxes as well in the meantime – a different box of a variety of Japanese snacks arrives in the mail each month. February’s did include some Kits Kats, so I was particularly happy about that! (click on the referral link for $5 off if you want to try a box!).
Time to get the Sunday Swap Share going again, I think! Today I’m sharing a 3D item that was gifted to me by a fellow demonstrator, Gloria Kremer, at the On Stage Event in Orlando. I met Gloria a few events ago, and we’ve managed to catch up with each other at events since then! She made these lovely charms with shrink plastic and beads!
The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!’s Beautiful You Stamp set – available in clear mountor wood mount. It looks like she punched the shrink plastic with the Pretty Label Punch. Thanks again, Gloria!
Stampin’ Up!’s next big On Stage event is going to be held in Auckland, New Zealand! As always, when the main event is on a different continent (right now it rotates between Europe, North America and the South Pacific Region), there’s smaller events held on the other two continents, with a combination of live presentations and video feed from the main event. In Canada, the two sites will be Quebec City and Vancouver – so covering both coasts! These events are demonstrator-only events – focused on inspiring and informing us creatively and in our businesses….but there’s also a lot of fun and friendship! That’s my favourite part of attending Stampin’ Up! events – seeing so many of my friends that I’ve made over the 16 years I”ve been a demonstrator (I started when I was 10…hahaha), and meeting new friends every time. If you’d like to join my group of demonstrators, known as the “Eh” Team, you can contact me for more information– or check out this page – the shortcut is yamstamps.com/join ! I’m also holding an Information Evening on a semi-regular basis. The next one is January 10th – you can RSVP for this free event! Normally you can get $165 worth of product for just $135 in your starter kit, but January 3 – March 31 during Sale-a-Bration, you can get $225 worth of product for just $135, or for $175 you’ll also get the Demonstrator only Craft & Carry Tote bag! (Can’t wait? Sign up now, get the starter kit and order the tote! Available right now for demonstrators to order – until January 2nd!). I’d love to have you join our group!
Welcome to the last of the Share What You Love North America Events Council Blog Hops. This time we’re featuring our Share What You Love Class projects! Our presentations at On Stage were focused on how we could use the products in this suite in a class situation or some other business project. I had a few things to share. My main class project is the Scrapbook in a Box using the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. I think that this is one of my favourite items in the suite. Have I said that already?!
I haven’t done a scrapbook in a box in a while, and this Designer Series Paper is perfect for 3D items as it’s a bit heavier than normal. Plus it’s gorgeous on both sides, which is showcased in a project like this. The above picture is the box when it’s closed. Basically the lid just holds it shut.
This is the box when it’s open. It looks a little complicated, but it’s actually not that bad. It uses 3 different sheets from the DSP package (this package has 24 sheets in it rather than 12, so you could make LOTS of these boxes!). It also uses some of the new pearlized doilies and the Love What You Do stamp set. And yes, I did do some fussy cutting! I don’t do that much, but this was pretty easy – I just cut around a few of the flowers. (I am not into fussy cutting a whole lot, but in some cases, it’s definitely worth it, especially if it’s not TOO fussy – fussy cutting! ha). To adhere the doilies in place, I put some SNAIL on the back of the doily and/or where it’s going to be on the DSP – since the centre of the doily is also covered by a punched circle with the sentiment it covers any exposed adhesive.Of course, if you’re more particular about it, you could always use Fine TIp Glue or the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
The above card is what you can use some of the spare DSP to create (see how the corners of the box are cut out?) – you could give this WITH the scrapbook in a box, or create a few of them to have on hand.
While demonstrators are able to purchase these products right now, everyone will be able to get their hands on this suite in May! There are special bundles, exclusively available during May – you’ll be hearing more about that closer to May 1st – no point in teasing you too much!
Good news – if you are close to Burlington ON, I’m having a Scrapbook in a Box Class where you can create one of these in time for Mother’s Day! Wednesday, May 9th, at 1pm OR 7pm. I will supply all the materials required to make the box. We’ll construct it in class, and then you’ll take it home and add your pictures in time for Mother’s Day, or whatever occasion you might like to use this for (hint: you can also keep it yourself!! haha!). The cost will be $25 and will include the necessary supplies. Space and supplies are limited, though, so you’ll need to register and pay ASAP. Deadline is Monday May 7th. If you aren’t local to me, I’m also going to be offering it as an online class, details to follow shortly.
In the meantime, if you’ve visited here as part of the Blog Hop, thanks, and I hope you will stop back in to check my YamStamps blog sometime soon (and those of my fellow Events Council Members!). A special mention to Robyn Ryan aka STAMPFANatics, who wasn’t able to participate in our Stampin’ Up! North American Council blog hops as her blog is not functional at this point in time. I am so grateful for the opportunity we’ve had to get to know each other and to give back, just a little, to the company and demonstrators who have enriched my life. Today is actually my anniversary of becoming a Stampin’ Up! Canada demonstrator – sixteen years ago!! Here’s to the next 16 years – and beyond!!
Sharing a bit more from Stampin’ Up!’s On Stage event in London Ontario last weekend. It was so much fun! This was my final official event as a member of the Events Council, and what a way to go out! I heard so many people say that they thought this was one of the best events they’d attended! (Though in all honesty, it kind of feels that way every time we go to an event run by Stampin’ Up! haha). The photo above is the gifts that I managed to get together for members of my demonstrator group, known as the “Eh” Team. They are boxed note pads, decorated with products from the Share What You Love suite. Demonstrators are able to order these products now (well, not the note pads…I already had those), and ordering will be available to everyone come May – with exclusive bundles at that time before they are available as part of the new Annual Catalogue! I think my favourite thing in this suite is the Share What You Love Designer Series Paper – it’s extra thick, and you get twice as much as in a regular package – plus it’s got a Pearlized coating on most of the sheets – you can kind of see the sheen on the flower images on a couple of the boxes above.
Here’s Leanne & I at the 80’s themed Centre Stage Event….my big hair did not keep its vertical height, sadly….This leaders’ event was the night before the On Stage Event, and it was a lovely dinner and information session, with great giveaways as well! (oh, and that’s a genuine LLBean sweater from the appropriate decade….).
What’s an 80’s party without jelly bracelets (and bright coloured pin?!) Thanks to Donna Griffiths who spread joy to the Events Council members across North America with these fun gifts! Thanks also to Stampin’ Up! for the gorgeous lanyard they gave to Council members (you can kind of see mine in the photo below). I love that even though we were spread out over North America, it was still a feeling of a shared event. I am thankful that I was able to serve with these special ladies!
Above – a picture of the “Eh” Team members who were able to attend the On Stage Event in London – Anne, Leanne, me, Arlene and Gail. So much fun….all of these ladies also helped behind the scenes. HUGE thanks to Anne, Arlene, and Gail whose hard work above and beyond allowed the SU staffers to get sleep the night before the event. I presented during the event (check the YamStamps Instagram feedfor my Britney mic photo!) and apparently stayed within my time limit, mic issues not withstanding (I managed to dislodge the Britney mic and had to adjust it before continuing…oops).
Thanks to Leanne for grabbing this photo during my presentation. I will say that presenting at the events has been a good growth experience, and lots of fun in the end. A little stressful initially, I won’t lie…but the room is full of supportive friends, and I got in all the required information…I think….haha!! One of the things I mentioned during my presentation – how much I love being a demonstrator, mostly for the inspiring and creative people that have been brought into my life because of it – and you see a few of them in photos in this post and elsewhere on the YamStamps Blog.
One final picture of everyone behind the scenes after loading one of the pallets. (I stole this picture from our fearless leader, Gennie…) – left to right – me, Kim, Gennie, Carrie, Valerie, Monica, Kathy (designer of that gorgeous Designer Series Paper!), Greg, Josh, Brett and Mike. The SU Staffers get sent out to all the events to help in front and behind the scenes – then go back to their “day jobs” in Marketing, Design, Transportation, IT, Demo Support, HR…you get the idea (I know I’ve also missed some of the departments…LOL). Such a great crowd to work with. Seriously. I would do this again in a heartbeat. The next On Stage Event is going to be a big one – Orlando, Florida in November, celebrating 30 years of Stampin’ Up! Can’t wait! If you’re interested in attending this event, contact me for more information about joining my team of demonstrators!
Today is the registration deadline for the Basic+ Option for the September Christmas Card Class! Class times are 1pm or 7pm, Wednesday September 13th here in Burlington ON. Your Basic+ Class fee of $30 is due at time of registration, and will include all supplies required to make the 4 different Christmas cards during class, PLUS you will receive 5 rolls of metallic washi tape from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue! Pictured above, the five rolls of tape are GORGEOUS and make your crafting easy and elegant.
The votive candle in the picture is simply decorated with strips of the gold and silver washi tape around the top & bottom of the candle – adds an easy custom touch. You could group them on your mantle, or place them on a mirror as a table centrepiece. I shared this idea (among others) with the people at Weddingbells Magazine a while back – because who couldn’t use a little bit of elegance AND thriftiness at a wedding?!
