How I Spent My Weekend

Or at least part of it…. Stampin’ Up! had a Leaders Summit this weekend – it kicked off Thursday evening, actually and ran Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday afternoon/evening. It was to be an in person event….in New Orleans….but got changed to an online event due to COVID. Let’s just call it a fortunate thing in some ways – because I don’t think anyone would have been able to make it to an in person event due to the weather!

Like most Stampin’ Up! events, it was a mix of information and inspiration. As this event was for demonstrators that have a team of demonstrators it also looked at ways to support and motivate our team as well as ourselves and featured some great guest speakers and the chance to network and brainstorm with other demonstrators.

Did you see the surprise gift that the sent to the leaders who registered for this event? (You may have heard me squealing a bit…). Imagine getting this box!

It was a beautiful gift, and in all honesty, I love the box as much as the contents LOL.

Here’s a fun project that uses Coastal Cabana, which is kind of close to the Tiffany Blue, and drink glasses which are similar but different to the Stampin’ Up! flutes that I received. Click on the image to see the items used to create it and a quick tip on how to get two-toned drink images!

Stampin’ Up!’s next event has also moved to an online format, and it’s open to all demonstrators. I’m looking forward to attending, along with members of the “Eh” Team – my demonstrator group. If you’re a demonstrator and you’re reading this post – a reminder that the deadline to regsiter for the event is September 1st! If you’re not yet a demonstrator, you can find out more about becoming a member of my demonstrator group here – or message me!

Autumn Leaves Card

This week’s Sunday Swap Share is from the Holiday Catalogue – but it’s not a Christmas Card! This Autumn Leaves Card was created by Christine Dionne and highlights some of the “other” holiday products in Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalogue.

autumn leaves card

This card features the Gather Together Bundle, which includes the Gather Together photopolymer stamp set and coordinating Gathered Leaves Dies. In the background is the Woodland Embossing Folder and a strip of the Come To Gather Designer Series Paper. If you look, Christine’s used a trick that a lot of demonstrators use – you pick the colours for your card from the Designer Series Paper – and these colours are perfect for this Autumn Leaves card.

I’m just starting to go through the fantastic cards I received as part of this demonstrator card swap. This was another organized swap – focusing on Holiday Catalogue product, with some guidelines in terms of card construction. At Stampin’ Up! demonstrator gatherings, there’s usually a fair bit of swapping occuring! Demonstrators will create multiples of a cardfront, or full card, and then trade them with other demonstrators. It’s a great way to get ideas and inspiration. I’m looking forward to On Stage in November – it’s the Stampin’ Up! organized event for demonstrators. The main event moves from location to location, since Stampin’ Up! is a global company, but there are smaller, pretty much identical events that happen on the other continents. This fall there’s a local event in Toronto! I love that it’s just down the road from my home. If you’re interested in joining me at that event, check out my FAQ page about becoming a demonstrator with my team. You’ll be able to purchase a starter kit and once you’ve got your demonstrator number, you can buy your ticket to On Stage! I’ve also got an Information Evening scheduled for Thursday, so you could RSVP for that and join me to find out more and ask any questions. I’d love to have you as part of my group of demonstrators – known as the “Eh” Team!

Make This Year Rewarding!

This card features a stamp set that you’ll be able to purchase with Stampin’ Rewards in the new catalogue as of June 4th – hence the Make This Year Rewarding title of the post!

make this year rewarding card

The images are from the set Soft Spring, a stamp set that can only be purchased using Stampin’ Rewards dollars. Stampin’ Rewards are percentage back dollars that you can spend on Stampin’ Up! merchandise when you host a workshop or have an individual order that is $200 CAD or more. The “hello” is from another new stamp set, To A Wild Rose, which is part of the general catalogue product, so can be selected as part of a regular order, or could also be purchased with Stampin’ Rewards.

If you’re interested in how to make this year rewarding, there’s a few ways to earn Stampin’ Rewards!

  1. Host a private card making class with friends and family. Contact me to book a date and to check out the options – there’s a 4 card class or a 2 card class, depending on your timeframe and comfort with paper crafting! You can earn rewards based on the total value of product ordered at your class.
  2. If you’re local to Burlington ON, join the Stampers Club! Club members have their own class on the third Monday of each month, either in the afternoon or evening. Rather than pay a class fee, each member places a $33 minimum order at the class, and once during their 6 month commitment, they receive Stampin’ Rewards to spend as well! Contact me to start at any time.
  3. Become an “Eh” Team member. Sign up to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and earn your own rewards! Demonstrators get the opportunity to preorder new product – which is how I was able to get the Soft Spring set ahead of time! Get more information here

Of course, making this year rewarding isn’t just about Stampin’ Rewards – attending a Monthly Card Making Class is a rewarding way to expand your crafting skills and card stash! Better yet, you can decide month to month if you’re able to attend – simply register at least 2 days in advance. Monthly Card Class is typically the first Wednesday of the month – HOWEVER, June’s Card Class is the SECOND Wednesday of the month due to my scheduling issues…(more on that later). So mark Wednesday, June 12th in your calendar! RSVP for the 1pm or 7pm class. Don’t forget to check the YamStamps Events page for upcoming dates.

Back to the card – what do you think of the layout? I tend to be very symmetrical at times with my designs, so when I was positioning the Stitched Rectangles on the cardfront, I thought I’d try putting them offcentre as a different design. Though now that I look at this picture….I’d probably drop the main image rectangle down a little bit…you know, to make that right upper corner more symmetrical with the other layer! LOL. The Stamparatus made this card a breeze – and can you pick out the new In Colour on the card? The dragonflies are stamped in Pretty Peacock! I think it’s my favourite new colour…so far…

Hope to see you in a class or club soon!

Love What You Do

Love what you do and share what you love – that’s part of the sentiment (if not the exact wording) of Stampin’ Up!’s Statement of the Heart, which features on the card that I’m sending to my “Eh” Team members this month. The “Eh” Team is the name of the group of demonstrators who have signed up with me or one of my team members. I know a lot of demonstrators put a lot of though into what to call their group, and truthfully I think I must have put some thought into it (this was a while ago…) but in the end, I think this name does reflect me, and my team! We are Canadian, hence the “eh”, and we are a team, and I am a child of the 80s…plus it’s tongue in cheek, which is how I approach most of life I think! So despite the team name, the cards are not goofy! (well, at least not these ones).

Love What You Do card

I used products from the Share What You Love suite from the Annual Catalogue. The Statement of the Heart stamp was available for a limited time a while ago, and I combined it with the background stamp from the Love What You Do stamp set and the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. I used some of the Rich Razzleberry 1/4″ Velvet Ribbon on the corners to soften the hard lines of the design a little. The colour scheme is Mint Macaron and Tranquil Tide, taken from colours in the patterned paper.

The Stamparatus is great for creating a number of similar cards – the stamps stay on the plates, and then you change out the cardstock, ending up with images in the same position. If the inking was uneven, I was able to restamp and know it was in the exactly same spot.

If you’d like to become part of my “Eh” Team, you can get more information here: yamstamps.com/join or you can contact me directly with specific questions. My next Information Evening is scheduled for Thursday, February 7th at 7pm – you can RSVP for directions for this free event. In the meantime, I still have some cards to write and address!
