The first of my monthly Christmas Card classes was held this past week, and the attendees got a good jump on their card needs for the holidays! Then over the weekend, while some people were watching football….others were not….LOL. I spent some much needed time sorting out things in my craft room. It seems I create chaos at the same time I create cards…and then tend to wander off and be distracted by some other shiny object…I decided it was time to have more than a few square inches of that larger desk surface to work within. So between prepping, holding classes and cleaning up I fell behind on keeping up here – apologies!
I’m working with some new lights for photography & video and am still playing with positioning etc but I am also working with the motto “Done is better than perfect”. Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean that I’m just going to throw things together for www.yamstamps.com or for my classes (online or in person), but it’s me pushing myself to complete things rather than having projects get stalled part waybecause I keep fussing with something until it’s “perfect”. I’m finding once I get things “done” sometimes I do have the time and ability then to turn around and work on it a bit more to make myself even happier with the end results. Are you like that? (Please say I’m not the only one!! LOL).
In the meantime, I’m getting ready for my Stampers Club get together next week. Stampers club is always open to new members, and the current length of commitment is 6 consecutive months. It’s a great way to do some regular crafting, have fun, budget your craft dollars and earn Stampin’ Up! hostess benefits without thinking! Contact me if you’re able to join us in Burlington or want more information!
This is a card from my friend Sue – she sent it to me as part of the Guinness Record efforts by Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators that I wrote abouthere. It’s inspiring me as I’m in the midst of planning out the projects for the first of my Christmas Card Classes on September 6th. After the frenzy of the first week of school, I’ll be looking forward to relaxing and crafting – so I hope that you can join me?!!
Check outmy schedule of classes here– you can register via the paypal button or by emailing me. If you register by September 4th for all four classes, you’ll get to make an extra, exclusive card at each of the classes – so it’s like getting an extra class for FREE (without attending an additional evening!). If you can’t make it to class, the next month will feature different cards…or you can schedule a private Christmas Card Class with your friends –contact meto see about available dates. Back to classes, everyone!!! LOL.
Stampin’ Up! has a new assortment of single stamps available – now through January 31, 2014. These single images come in clear mount only, and are handy for your holiday cards and tags. Click on the image to get the flyer, or click here to see them in my online store.
Here in the north we just celebrated Canada Day on July 1st, and today, our neighbours to the south will be celebrating July 4th, Independence Day – or as it’s known in our household, my son’s birthday. So nice of the US to do things like have parades and fireworks to help him celebrate, don’t you think?!
The last of the 12 Weeks of Christmas mailings went out today. I can't believe it! I once again must admit that despite me preparing the 12 weeks of newsletters, I'm still caught a little off guard at the fact that Christmas is less than a week away!!
Thought I'd share another holiday card. This uses the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper. I love having this paper on hand because it's a great backdrop for any type of card! The ornaments and sentiment are from the Merry & Type stamp set; the sentiment is cut out using an Apothecary Accents Framelit and accented with Basic Pearls. If you are mass producing and mailing cards like this, I would probably opt to leave off the pearls to make the cards a little more flat.
I am receiving some lovely handmade cards so will be sure to post pictures of them here over the next while! Handmade cards truly are a beautiful way to celebrate the season and greet friends and family, even if they don't arrive before Christmas Day. That's my motto….I think I will get a personalized stamp that says that for the back of my cards….since I'm still working away on them! LOL.
Here's the spot I did on TV Cogeco's FYI show, airing this week in the Burlington area. Thanks again to the crew and cast of FYI for including me on the show!! Don't forget that if you'd like to make the ornament that's shown at the front of the table, the class is this Saturday, December 15th at 1pm here in Burlington – there's still some space available, but contact me ASAP. Otherwise, if you're subscribed to my newsletter list, look for your 12/12/12 edition of the 12 Weeks of Christmas at 1pm (Eastern) today!
