Oct 24, 2016 | Big Shot, cards, rubber stamping, Stampin' Up!

I’m sure you can relate (perhaps especially on a Monday?). One of those days where nothing seems to work in your favour and you’re constantly swimming up stream. Like Dory, my mantra is often “Just keep swimming”. Here’s a great card to send to someone who’s going through a bit of a rough patch, and it’s perfect for a Manic Monday, I think! This card is easy to reproduce and a perfect way to brighten someone’s day. It uses the Stampin’ Up! Canada Weather Together Bundle which includes the Umbrella Weather Framelits and Weather Together photopolymer stamp set.
Colours used are Crushed Curry for the background and umbrella top; Island Indigo for the raindrops, Real Red for the hearts and Smoky Slate for the umbrella handle. I did the usual thrifty trick of stamping the umbrella top in the centre of the Crushed Curry cardstock, and die cutting it before using the remainder of the cardstock as the backing for the main image piece. Noone sees the umbrella shaped hole behind the other layers! Since this set has coordinating images and framelits, I was able to cut out a few hearts easily, and add one or two to the front of the card with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen. I combined Thick Whisper White cardstock for the cardbase and regular Whisper White for the top layer. This way, the whole card feels substantial, but it’s not too bulky or heavy, especially since the umbrella top is raised with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I’m off to continue on my Manic Monday….prepping for the Christmas Card Class on Wednesday – going to be a fun one with lots of bling! The registration deadlines for the November Christmas Card Class and the Tin of Tags Class are coming up soon – visit the YamStamps Events page for more details and registration information. Hope to see you in class soon.

Now I know that Stampin’ Up!’s great Designer Series Papers are on sale right now (Buy 3 Get 1 Free) but there’s always another option when you have stamps, ink and cardstock! Create your own patterned paper with these essential tools. Here’s another card using the Flower Patch stamp set and Flower Fair framelits. I used the smaller stamps in the set to create the patterned paper featured in the left hand panel. One of the secrets to getting good placement with random stamping is roughly creating a visual triangle with one image/colour, and for me, making sure I don’t crowd the images too closely together. You can kind of see that in the panel?! The great thing about this stamp set is that it’s photopolymer – so you can see through to exactly where you’re stamping. They stick to the clear blocks like nobody’s business as well! The slight drawback? Make sure your pad is clean (no fuzzies etc on it) – because the stamps will pick that up. That, and I find them slightly stinky when brand new (of course, that doesn’t last too long!) For this card, I used oval framelits to cut out the main sentiment and added more flowers for colour and accent.

Carpe Cake! (sorry to all those Latin scholars out there, because I’m pretty sure that’s not quite correct…). Anyway – a fun card using a combination of sets. The cake image is from Sketched Birthday, and while there are some good sentiments in that set, I was taken by the “Seize the Cake”from the Something to Say set and thought the two went together quite well. The Designer Series Paper Lullaby forms the background. I love that the DSP could be used for baby pages or projects, but doesn’t tie you to that theme. Of course, the easiest way to figure out a colour scheme for a project is to take it from the DSP used – so in this case, there’s some Coastal Cabana cardstock and thick Baker’s twine, and I used a blender pen to colour the image with Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey and Baked Brown Sugar. A fun birthday card for a guy or a girl 🙂
If you need to build up your card stash, don’t forget that I have monthly card classes and a monthly Stampers Club where you get to use all sorts of Stampin’ Up! product and techniques to create 4 different cards. Check out my Events page or contact me for more details!

Stampin’ Up!’s Daydream Medallions is a set that I have had in my collection for a little while now, and I should have been using it more often!! LOL. This card uses the stamp set and the coordinating Floral Frames Framelits Dies for the Big Shot, so creating this medallion effect is EASY (especially with the Magnetic Platform)!!! Stamp, die cut, layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a Vintage Faceted Designer Button to the centre of the top medallion as well. Obviously, this is a special card that’s appropriate for hand delivered options. If you wanted to mail it, you would want to put it into a padded envelope, or use SNAIL vs the Dimensionals to make it flatter. This could be a great Mother’s Day card!
OK I’m off to ensure that my house looks entirely unlived in (aka ready for showing as it’s up for sale!! LOL). Living like this has put a bit of a crimp in my crafting time – as I am a bit of a messy crafter so I’m fearful of getting going on something and then having to clean it up quickly! However, I am actually learning to craft a bit more neatly, and perfecting the “clean as you go” crafting way….
Jan 21, 2014 | rubber stamping, Seasonal Catalogue, specials, Stampin' Up!
Well, I’m over the jetlag and recovering from my cold…and I stamped! I have to say, it was wonderful to be back in my stamp room creating (well, once I cleared a spot to do so…but that’s another story…LOL). I created this ombré card for Stampers Club last evening with the Happy Watercolour set. Love! I also have always loved washi tape, and love this Watercolour Wonder metallic version available in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalogue. If you are following me on Instagram, you’ll see another card we did last evening (amongst the other photos I share…LOL). If you like the ombré look – you’ll love the new product coming from Stampin’ Up!…the alcohol based markers called Blendabilities will be packaged in shades of the same colours. I’ll be holding classes exclusively featuring these markers, so be sure to be on my mailing list to be in the loop as to the schedule!!
In the meantime, there’s also a new batch of weekly sale items! Stampin’ Write markers and punches are on the list – you can never go wrong with these tools in your crafting kit!
Nov 21, 2013 | Big Shot, cards, Christmas, Events, rubber stamping, Stampin' Up!
When we made this card in Stampers Club, some people were looking for the Designer Series Paper to complete this project….but it’s all done with stamps! We stamped the various ornaments from the Stampin’ Up! set Ornament Keepsakes in Smoky Slate (have I mentioned how much I LOOOOOVE this new addition to the SU colour family?), Night of Navy and Always Artichoke. Added the “merry” cut from Brushed Silver Cardstock and tada! I adhered a strip of the Brushed Silver Cardstock to a Big Shot Multi-Purpose Adhesive sheet so after we die cut the word, it adhered easily and neatly to the cardfront.
